Forget about Mata...

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I believe and have heard from a reliable source that Spanish release clauses do not apply to English clubs, or at least in the case of Mata that it does not, which indicates that VCF are open to bids of 18m, as they accepted that bid from the scum.

So it's all good?

Even the incompetents at Arsenal will have known about any clauses. The fact is, if we seriously want Mata, we will get him, it just seems that they want to sell Cesc first so this may go all the way to the final day of the transfer window.

how often does a club actually reach the release clause? Mata was not worth 23 million euros.

So it was in valencias intrest to reject any bid, knowing the clause went up on the 1st now they can demand more.

honestly though, who is going to pay extra now!!

clubs will tell valencia to fuck off. Either way I would prefer hazard! Sell nasri bring in Hazard

I agree with most here,if Nasri doesn't want to be here then sell him for £20million and pay Valencia the £20mil for Mata who is more than a capable replacement.

If not sell Nasri we still have the amount (and plenty more)to buy Mata but again dragging heels, ummm and rrrrring, looking for cheaper alternatives(lesser quality) while tagging Valencia along or being stingy with the money again...?It's a farce really isn't it,combine this with refusing to pay a extra £1million for players and lose out to our rivals our negotiating team our clowns.

I think the Hazzard deal is pretty much done. But we promised them we wouldn't nick Lile's two best players in one summer.

what a load of old bollox we've been fed by the club.they're playing the age old game of "keep the cretins quiet"by attaching the club to any and all players on the market.benzema, mata, hazard, samba, cahill, chamberlain, jagielka, wickham, and on and on.and we're having a clear out too,at least 5 squad plyers deinately going!
who are the muppets?them for trying it on or us for letting them?
ARSENAL FC,ONCE THE BANK OF ENGLAND CLUB WHO NOW SHOP AT POUNDSTRETCHER. :banghead:

I'm confused.......does that mean we are signing him or not ? :? I mean if the deal is pretty much done then doesnt that negate the promise we made to them ?

I think that's referring to Micky Hazzard joining the coaching staff.

Its on no actual source, but rading between the lines of what Wenger and the Lile president were syaing it seemed that we were looking to get both of them, but only went for Gerv 'this summer'. He's said he wants to come here, the President of Lile pretty much confirmed that would probably happen. I'ld expect him next summer.

No I think it's the Dukes of Hazzard deal. They will be showing that instead of Fever Pitch this year and charging us all £20 for a blanket....
