A Marriage of Convenience- Arsene and the Board

Post by Wengerball »

Agree with a lot of the sentiments in this thread about Arsenes relationship with the board.

Its almost like a marriage of convenience. Arsenes earning £6.5m for doing fuck all and the board and Kroenke are reaping the benefits and filling their pockets from our sell to buy mentality.
Its almost like the board have said to Arsene- We'll ignore your lack of tactics/success if you keep making us the big bucks and on top of that we'll give you a slice of the pie with a £6.5m a year salary as compensation.

The board and the GIC are in this together and Gazidis comments just confirm this suspiscion I've had. The board have allowed Arsenal to become Wengers plaything and at the same time they have sold the soul of our club for the sake of massive profits.

The proof behind this theory?

I don't want that to sound like some wanky 'super fan' shit but the club have me, like other fans over a barrel.

I know things are shit mate and if there is a mass protest walk out / don't attend I'm in. I totally respect your reasons and hats of to you for sticking to your guns.

Like I say I'll join you shoulder to shoulder if there was a protest organised but since I was 7 I will always support Arsenal FC and not Arsene FC.
I see your point Boomer but WHY do the club have you over a barrel? I have supported this club over 30 years, I'm from Islington, I went to school in the borough, Arsenal is part of my community and family.

Yet because I love this club and can see it is being destroyed by a combination of greed and cult-worshipping 'fans' I refuse to attend anymore. It isn't helping if anything it is rewarding greed.

I see your reasons and I can't slate you for that, but what I am saying is that if you want changes at the club then when that ST renewal form pops in your post next summer, use it instead of Andrex.
Same as me then.
I was born, breed and Schooled in Islington to.

As Augie says above we've waited years to get our hands on a ST and I'm not planning on giving it up.
This is why they have us over a barrel. I want to attend the matches and support the club I love yet I have no option but to bite the bullet and pay up. I'm not happy about it far from it but only other option is not paying and stop attending.

I will agree with you that fans power does speak. So yes a mass no-show would work. As I was stating previously, apart from food and souvenir purchases, it wouldn't financially hit the club in doing so but would send a huge message.

Being serious there's about 45,000 ST members that have already paid to attend matches. Unless your saying don't attend matches?
Of course there are around 3-5k ST holders who don't attend at each game!
8)

We'll see what spin is being given when we're no better than mid-table after 10 games. They can't keep saying 'Our season starts here'.

Overall I agree with your general thought.

Without going all USM on you but I don't think this was all intentional. I'm (unlike our American friend) not sure how but I think a series of events or decision have gone well....for whom again I'm not sure!? But I do believe the board and AW have become one.

Whether that's the board believing Arsene (even as a scapegoat) using his speak/hype for their own benefit? Financial or debt clearing?
Or Arsene simply towing the company line?

It’s now just merged as one.

Fair nuff Augie and see where you're coming from. Thing is, are you ultimately willing to waste another £3600 GBP for the next three years? (aggregated at £1200 a ST for 3 years)? Seriously? Because you'd literally be better off going to Vegas for a weekend with that and blowing it on craps.

The demand for Arsenal tickets is now pathetic. Who wants to watch a bunch of dilettante bitches shit their nappies? Papa Wenger no longer has the answers, and the disgusting lack of respect is what kills me. Hill-Wood and AW effectively make it plain that they think you are an arse hole and an intellectual philistine next to them....so the best response is to stick two fingers up at them *word censored* and not buy into it imo.

I see why you keep your tckt of course I do. BUT.

Once AW is gone there will plenty of opportunities for you to watch a new Arse manager. It's not as if giving up your ST means it's over. Besides can you not just downgrade to silver?

Arsene FC? Make that Arsene PLC as we're not even a football club anymore. We're a business run by a senile accountant who controls his employers and bosses.

Amen. That is why I won't give mine up but its becoming a chore to go there now and watch this load of shit. I have deliberated for a few years now about jacking it and the reasons I won't are:

1. I've followed them for too long to jump ship when things go bad.

2. Sad to admit but I've built a major part of my social life meeting the lads for a gallon of beer before and after the match that it would be hard to give up. Sometimes the football just seems to get in the way of a good drinking session.

3. The missus would try and drag me round fucking shopping centres on Saturday afternoons or round the houses of people I neither know or care about for "Lunch" on Sundays.

4. If I did give it up and Wenger fucks off, I'll be gutted as it will be to the back of the queue and then having to suffer ST in the upper tiers for an eternity.

This sustainable model bollocks Ivan the terrible spouts off is dogshit. Do you really think UEFA will kick out Barca, Real, Manure, Citeh & Chavs? Will they fuck. Barca are UEFA's pet at the moment and they can do no wrong.

I've never brought anything in the ground as its over priced crap. I look like some old tramp in a stained white away shirt from 2007 as I won't buy new merchanise as its a fucking rip off changing it every year now.

The fact is that Arsenal need that ground full and need Champions league foottball to survive and anything Gazidas says otheriwse is total bollocks.

For many years now the total ambition of the manager and the board has been to fill the ground with 60K every other week and get in the champions league.

How much would we have to spend to win the league and champions league? £100 - 150 million? (transfers and wages over the course of the contracts).

You get an extra £5.7m for winning the CL over getting to the 1/4 final

You get £10m more for winning the league than you do finishing fourth.

So you get £15.7m more if you win both rather than "competing" as Gazidis would say.

We would have to win the league and CL for the next ten years in row to break even. Yes there may be sponsorship money but we've shown to be shit at bringing that in.

Gazidis and Wenger should stop talking bollocks about competing for the CL and league as they will never do it and the likes of Nasri and Fabregas knew that.

They should be looking at why we fell apart against so-called lower teams last season and have struggled against some complete shit this season.

I can take the 8-2 as Manure look the part but fucking struggling against Swansea and only winning by a gift of a fuck up and then getting owned by Dortmund for 90 mins and then Pat Rice saying we turned a corner.... My arse.

We scored 2 goals at Old trafford and didn't get a point. We scored three at Blackburn and got fuck all.

Turned a fucking corner my arse......

"He hasn't become a crap manager overnight" no fuck-face, he's been doing it for nearly five years now.

Ok fair Boomer.
BUT then. If you insist on attending the bowl, surely the one duty you have then it to heckle the living shit out of Wenger?? Surely you cannot sit there and chant this shit? If I still went I would make the Emirates a fucking cauldorn of hate for Wenger and Gazidis.

I said it a week ago but I think many Arsenal fans are some of the most spineless in the division. They put up with so much shit. EXAMPLE: if Michael Carrick had come out saying he wears a Man City top around his house, what do you think ManYoo fans and Fergie would have done for him? It's disrespecting to the club and its tradition and rivalry. Carrick would never play again for one. For two if he somehow did, the ManYoo fans (known as prawn sarnie brigade) would tear him a new one so hard he'd hand in a transfer request.

Now compare and contrast with Abou Diaby. I can 100% guarantee that when this c**t re-emerges, that not one soul in the concrete bowl will boo him or give him hell. Nothing. The shirt and pride in this club means fuck all as Wenger has killed it. Indeed, every time Wenger is discussing the Arsenal problems he keeps mentioning 'I have Diaby to come back soon'.

DIABY.

This *word censored* should never ever play for us again. He's been there FIVE years. He earns more than Luka Modric. He is fucking crocked all the time. Always. When he plays he does more harm to our chances than when crocked.

And yet most fans in that concrete bowl will cheer him when he makes his comeback.

Remember he said 'Arsenal fans are too nice'.

Even Diaby calls Arsenal fans pussies!!!

If you go to the ground Boomer, hammer the shit out of Wenger and never tolerate disgusting performances. If you see Gervinho acting like a greedy *word censored* and costing us points because he's too much of a retard to pass, give him hell! If you see unacceptable defending from Djourou BOO THE *word censored*. Djourou and Koscielny should be heckled every week for that 8-2 humiliation. Both their performances at OT were cowardly and pathetic.

But again what do you get? Arsenal fans claiming Koscielny can come good.

Yeah. Maybe at Barnet....

Dan Roan challenges him on the transfers, Gazidas doesn't really answer.

Baba, after the debacle against the scum at the grove last season I decided that I would not attend another game until wenger left but would renew my season tickets in the meantime as I cannot downgrade to silver (only got the season tickets last season). After the usual summer shenanigans I felt sure that there would be an almighty backlash from the fans at the 1st home game v the scousers so decided to attend (of course nothing happened though  ). As I have said on the mackems match thread I will be going over for the game v the mackem fans but will not bother staying the extra night to watch these *word censored* and their senile dickhead manager prance around the place again on the sunday. I know that having paid for my ticket the club wont be out of pocket by my non attendance but I still believe that the thousands of empty seats on matchdays will worry the club so in that regard I am doing my bit.

I class myself as militant (not violent) by nature and very very much support the need for a major protest. That there hasnt been one to date not only saddens me but also shocks and frustrates me :x In case you havent noticed the club can put any kind of spin they want on matchday attendance figures but the one thing that they cannot sweep under the carpet is a big public protest and that is the route us fans should be going. The fact that we havent done so only encourages phw, wenger et al to continue piss on us from a great height and most of the time I feel that we deserve it by our refusal to get pro-active in our demands for change. Are all these fans that say we need a change of manager not willing to give up an hour before a home game to let kroenke know exactly how we feel ? Are fans really that lazy that they are willing to sit back hoping that other fans will do the protesting for them ? FFS if we feel that strongly then we should be all willing to stand up and be vocal about - at this stage maybe the akb deserve more respect because at least they stand by their beliefs      :banghead:
