Only one United player too. Rooney.

It's a popularity contest and always has been. I wouldn't get your knickers in a twist over it Baba

So how in the name of christ does that scum c**t get young player of the year award then ? :? He is absolute shit and aguero should have pissed away with that award
That's my point. It's not necessarily accurate.

Aguero was shortlisted for player of the year AND young player of the year, so by that logic he should have won young player of the year. Maybe Walker is more popular? or maybe some players considered Aguero too famous or too good or been around too long to win young player of the year?

There's always odd decisions. It's the nature of the beast and the result should be taken with a pinch of salt.

As for United only having one player, and Sp*rs 3, in the team of the year. I'd say that's because they rotate more than Sp*rs, and share responsibility and playing time (apart from Rooney, of course) whereas Parker, Bale and Walker play every single week so get more votes, I guess.
Mate G88ner I agree with much of what you say, very reasoned.

What I do find comical though, is the utter delusion and paradox of so many Arsenal fans it's comical.

Example: a year ago, Vermaelen was in the PFA Team of the Year. This = Vermaelen is top class, 'he was in the PFA Team bla bla'.

Sagna was in the team of the Year a couple of seasons back and again: 'Sagna is the best right back in the league, his fellow pros voted him in' (I actually think Sagna is best right back in the league but I digress)...

This season though, with Arsenal shitter and more inept than they have been in many a year, all of a sudden, the same comedians who used the PFA Team to validate their farcical 'Vermaelen is world class' (LOL, unless facing Spud reject Adel Taarabt then that is)....are now telling us, that the PFA award is actually a load of toss! Interesting.

Probably the same people who used to tell us Cesc was world class, and now claim he was never all that anyway and Arteta is more useful, and the same ones who thought Gervinho would be an upgrade on Nasri....

Anyone who has an ounce of knowledge about football can see that whilst Vermaelen hasn't reached world class status yet, he is verging on it and has the potential to be amongst the best. Your Taraabt example also shows your lack of logic and reasoning as all defenders make mistakes and it is ridiculous to expect a player to play years and years of football without making mistakes along the way. Take Vidic, who was the best defender in the league, of a few years back when he got raped by Torres, not once or twice, but regularly over the span of two seasons. The same Torres who is playing worse than Taarabt right now. I guess, by your logic, that makes Vidic a shit player too right?

So given the fact that the vote is cast then and the intelligence of your average footballer it's no surprise to see a few scum players there. They base their votes on August to December even though it's supposed to be the calender year.

The footbal writers award is a better yardstick in my opinion.
Really? Ok I think I know how this works. PFA award = bollocks (I guess that means RVP can toss his trophy in the bin)

Sportswriters award = the 'real' award.

Even though Scott Parker is the current holder.

LOL

Only one Arsenal player deserves to be in that PFA Team and he's there, his name is RVP. Koscielny is good, but when you're part of a team that leaks more than Paris Hilton, you have no right being in that PFA Team sorry.
What's Colochini doing there then when the barcodes have conceeded almost as many goals as we have?
A lot of that team have been selected on sentimental value. Given the fantastic season that Newcastle have had, they had to include one Newcastle player in that team.
Also the only scum player who deserves to be in that team is perhaps Scott Parker. Why isnt Valencia in that team ahead of monkeyboy is anybody's guess.

Wow!! My point was on the number of scum players on the team (I've now put that bit in bold for you Baba), maybe you should reply to what's posted not what you think is posted

Care to explain how Walker won his award then?

EDIT: RvP announced as Football Writers Player of the Year.

I believe that wining the PFA and FWA Player of the Season (congrats on the 2nd award rvp by what is supposed to have been a runaway victory :barscarf: ) is a huge honour for the man itself and for all off us but at the same time I do agree that the process is very flawed. Why, in a day and age where technology is so readily available, players need to vote for this 4 months before the season ends is beyond me :? There is no way that the scum should have 3 players in the pfa team but also no way shrek should have been in ahead of aguero and I still feel that kos should have been in but that is the way it works so instead of overstating it or understating it, lets just enjoy it for the undoubted pleasure and satisfaction that our captain is feeling right now 8)

I'm obviously in the minority on here (who'd have thought that? ) and believe that Karl Walker has had a very good season and thus am not too fussed about him winning the award. He has been very good both defensively and going forward for most of the season and looks to have secured the right-back berth for England based on those performances. Yes, a case could be made for the little Argentinian (although personally I think you should only be in one category or the other) but Walker winning it certainly isn't the massive shock, surprise and injustice that some are making out. 8)

I think young player of the season should be only for players who are 21 or less. So i have no problem in Walker winning that award (though I think Phil Jones was very close). Aguero is very experienced and an established star and hence should not have been in the young player of the year list. However I don't agree with having Walker in the team of the season.

Kyle Walker was brilliant for the 1st half of the season , deserved it tbh although I would have liked to have seen Kun get the young players award.

Clint Dempsey got 4th for player of the year. I want to go back and find that thread from September-ish where we were listing player we would like to see at Arsenal and I mentioned Dempsey and got slated by every mug on here, saying he was no where near good enough.

Congrats Robin!
