Silly banner thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

You are correct that the same supplier was used for each. The club have to use someone who can supply the correct material and all the fire certificates etc once the designs are received.

The competition was 'upgraded' to Facebook, because after running on arsenal.com and in the match day programme, the club received the grand total of seven entries: Fact

Yes, lets all hate the 2nd wealthiest UK resident with a personal wealth in excess of Abramovich's, that has a clear vision for the club and who would appoint a first class football executive and kick Gazidis into touch along with his Z listers in the commercial team

Yeah, I really hate Usmanov. Much rather have wee Stanny Krankee riding the back of the money making machine ready for the next spin off

I bet none of those people sat behind the banner have got a sodding clue as to Usmanov's business record and intention for the club

If they want banners, let individuals or groups of mates get together and get one made up. Not have them all in the same style/size/font etc. It's shit and it's a joke. :banghead:
But wasn't the banner 'competition' thing on Arsenal.com which led to these banners exactly that? Anyone could have a go - They all need to be the same size to fit on the fascia, but the style and fonts are definitely different.

Surely that was the opportunity for anyone who wanted a banner to get one? If you still have one you want to get displayed, then contact the club ; It's a piece of cake.

Seems like they just can't win - the opportunity was there for everyone
They all look like they were done by the same design team, that's what I meant by the same font/style etc. It doesn't look like fans did them, it looks like Arsenal hired a design consultancy for the day and got them to knock up a few banners. Very Chelseaesque.

Yeah fan's could get involved but it was what fit's their agenda obviously. What happened to the Glory Glory? banner?

What I meant by fan's getting involved was, mates putting some cash together, getting in the ground abit early and hanging the banner up, takling it to aways with them etc.

I doubnt there are many clubs in Europe that use Facebook to get fans to design banners. It''s so shit it's unbelievable. One of the cringest things I've seen in a footy ground.
I agree, the plastic corporate banners are so fucking embarrassing it's sad. I liked them the first time they were up but now they make me really angry whenever I see em... 'who needs batman, we've got robin' oh how we would laugh if that was put up at the Lane or the Bridge. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Did it ever really exist ?
Yeah, it did exist, but remember this was 2009, and opinions etc were very different then ; A lot has changed since, so it can't really be used as a stick to beat someone with in 2012.
At least I've seen a photo of SWL's banner

I'm starting to think that Real Fans Have Patience was something of an urban myth

Can anyone who saw it please step forward......better still anyone with photographic / video evidence.

But a lot of barely controversial banners they refused to allow -- and the votes did seem to jump around a lot :|

It was a redaction banner didnt they do a march with this banner at the front of the march?

This is the problem with redaction Cook and why there is some apathy towards your organisation you seem to 'hunt with the hounds and run with the hares' youre an atmosphere organisation only now but in the past when it has suited you youve set up Pro-Wenger and Anti-Usmanov marches which has nothing to do with atmosphere
