Controversial Arsenal views

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

sid, perhaps it was him being sold "early" rather than his death that gave him this so called mythical status (which is more to do with a mixure of him as a player, couple with him as a man).

Granted, you probably didn't see him that much of him in his prime - but to call him just "decent" is so far off the mark that I can barely see your comment over the horizon.
Have to agree 100%. Rocky was one of the most skilful and intelligent midfielders of his generation. In one way it was a shame his peak was spent at The Arsenal because we didn't use him to the full limits of his ability and thus he didn't get the plaudits or international recognition his skill deserved. In another (and purely selfish) way I thank God he was with us because he was great to watch. 8)

I like the old Blue away kit (Still technically Blue & Yellow so it's all good  )

I think we should drop Song in favour of Coquelin and Frimpong on a rotational basis.

I think Wojciech is a good keeper for us and should remain our first choice.

I genuinely believed RvP would stay

I think we should bring in more English players and homegrown talent.

We should give Gervinho one more season to adapt to the PL. If he still is hopeless then move him on.

Don't know if this is controversial but I can't stand Walcott. He should stick to F1 ( though that said, I don't like hamilton either 8) )

Pires is my favourite player. This isn't controversial in itself, but I get weird looks when I explain it's merely because when I was younger I wanted his hair/beard

I think Arshavin is still a very good player and would like to see him back with us again (as long as he sorted his head out and put the effort in). I still love looking at that game against Liverpool in 09.

I think the onlinegooner has some real plastic fans posting recently. An influx of foreign 'fans' as well as threads such as "When do home game tickets go on sale?"

I think John Terry has been a fab defender for club and country & had he been in our defence, we would not have been trophyless for the last 7 years !

Which bit, pray tell? That he's been a fab defender or that we wouldn't have remained trophy-less had he played for us? :?

The fab defender bit. I have never rated the **** as he always seemed to be out of position and had to make a "hollywood" tackle to make the tackle. Well Diaby showed him what a tackle should look like  but all kiding aside, now that his pace has gone, he can't keep up with the game anymore.

Now to add a bit more fuel to the fire, I always rated Piglips Ferdinand higher than him. As much as I disliked him too, at least he could read a game better than JThardmandiehardchelseacruntracistfuck.

Two completely different centre-halves. I would say that through the majority of his United career Ferdinand has been able to play with a quality partner in Vidic, and for my money they were never as good as Terry and Carvalho. His legs have gone now yeah, but he has been class for most of his career. Also a massive leader.
