Yeah! he already thinks he's "Good"....sadly - I hope I'm wrong as I want ALL Arsenal players to be The Best - Gervinho will be a failure. :( ... a few good performances - the occasional ( I did say 'occasional) moment of magic...but that'll be it.... :banghead:

Yes, spot on OBG.... Why is it, everytime we sign a player and he's shit (or turns out to be shit) the AKB's will always come out with the same mantra..... ''Oh, but it's only his first year....he'll come good next year etc, etc, etc....'' We're not in a position to give these players, especially ones that cost as much as the forehead did a year/season's sabbatical, especially ones that show very few signs of being anywhere near half decent, Gervinho is a (fore) head down, very one footed, big forehead tosser, I can't stand him and hope he's benched for the rest of his contract.

I agree.
More I think of who we could use, Dempsey appeals.
Premiership experienced, English speaker, used to living in London, able to play up front or just off a striker or even out wide if needed.

Too old.
At 29 he is too old?
A three year deal would be fine surely?

Have to say that I am surprised at some of the voting in this poll - 2 votes for walnut and 7 for the forehead ?? Wtf is going on with those votes ? Have to say that I am also puzzled at the votes for gibbs - gibbs has played a fair few games for us over the last few seasons and while I accept that injuries have held him back, it also has to be said that his defensive nous/positioning is poor and if it isnt at the required level at this stage then it probebly never will be :(

What a load of guff. You bang on about the AKBs saying the same thing, yet the anti-Wenger brigade always roll this out as well. It is his first year of English football. Plenty of big name players for lots of money have taken time. What you're saying is nonsense. If he's still rubbish by October then fine.

October? Why not the end of his second season? Then he can renegotiate his contract.

Vidic was dodgy for a fair chunk of his first season, Titi and Bobby took time to settle
They were/are country miles better than Gervinho
I agree with Rigsby - give the lad some time

The difference is that the players you mentioned needed time to adapt to the pace and physicality of the english game but gervinho hasnt shown much in the lines of football intelligence or clinical finishing plus I would be concerned about a perceived willingness to "hide" out on the wings although that is something which may cease when he adapts but the first two traits will not improve at this stage of his career no matter how long he plays in england

hope you're wrong but hard to argue - he's generally been poor
but he was good v Udinese away and for that alone was probably a worthwhile signing

Exactly, give them say another 8 seasons then give them a testimonial, trust Rigsby to favour the ''wait until next season stance'' let's do this for every player we sign...

spendsum4uckingmoney wrote:It seems every year their is always a player who comes good or slightly less crap than usual. This year it was undeniably RVP. The season before it was Wilshere and the season before that it were Song. Whats your bet?

Walcott- Really needs to show some god damn consistency. Maybe he will get it if he plays upfront with RVP leaving (presuming he stays).

Ramsey- Frustrated a lot of us last year with his snail like pace and somewhat lack of flair but he must be good. He's English in a French team..........
I think ramsey is Welsh....
