As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I suspect you probably are!
I have absolutely no issue with him leaving, it is where he went that changed my opinion of him. If you love Arsenal as he said he did, it wouldn't even enter your head to sign for United. We may not be direct rivals at this point in time but even during RVP's career with us there was a time where the rivalry was one of the biggest in the country. It's not like they were the only club in for him, he could have chosen to move abroad.

If he left to go to Juve or anyone else like that, then fair enough.
But to say he loves the club, then to go to United just shows all he is a who is just simply really eager to please small boys inside of him...

That's not quite right, the club only accepted one bid, that was United's, he didn't have the option to go elsewhere as they would not pay what the club wanted.
Ultimately it's the club's greed which made him go to United, they could have easily accepted 8M (or was it 10?) from Juventus to get rid of him but they held out for the most they could get regardless of if it was United or not.
van Persie is a *word censored* but the club are far worse.

no I am still here
I have even made him captain of my fantasy football team this season.
the problem does seem to be where he has gone but he didnt really have many options did he?

True and I agree the club shouldn’t have allowed it to happen, but just because the club accepted the bid didn’t mean he had to go there. Players generally can choose where they end up assuming the club is interested. If the club were determined to offload him he could have turned around and said I don’t want to play anywhere else in the Premier League. That is what he would have done if he did have some sort of feelings for the club.

Absolute bollocks, it was made clear from day one that rvp would ultimately decide where his future lay and has since stated that there was only ever going to be one club he would sign for. It was then left to the club to try to squeeze as much out of that club as they could. The complete reverse of what you are suggesting, I agree both are but rvp is to me the biggest in the history of the club.
Off course he's a traitor but the club did not have to sell if they felt that strongly about it, they obviously didn't give a shit once he decided he wanted to go there.
They could have accepted the bid from Juventus and told him to take it or wait but the 24 from United was more appealing.

Rvp was the master of his own destiny in this deal and to suggest otherwise is nonsense no matter what spin you try yo put on it. He made it clear where he wanted to go from day one.
and make no mistake, cashing in to United is one of the worst things this club has done, its broken down that barrier now, they will look at us as another club they can bully into selling.
They will be back for Wilshere and Chamberlain, I'm certain of that.

RVP is not a traitor for leaving for UTD. A shock as this may be but we are not UTD's rivals anymore. We haven't been since 2006. The guy is 29 and has won diddly squat for 7 years. I wonder why he left. People think he owed us for the injuries but he already paid us back by single handedly getting us 3rd and getting us 24m.

He is still a judas wanker the way he orchestrated his move

Orchestrated what? We sold him and were always going to sell him. As AW said 'it's a good piece of business'. All RVP did was tell to the fans early not to get their hopes up cus he was jumping ship. I prefer a player just say 'yeah i'm gonna leave' than what happened with Viera where we speculate all summer. And his criticism of Arsenals policy? who the fuck hasn't had a go? All he did was state what everybody else was thinking.

As you said I have no problem with jvp wanting to leave The Arsenal but no need to slag the club to force the move no matter if he's right or wrong

He is a Judas wanker because he stuck the fingers up to us when he knew any other club of our size would have shipped him off years ago and he'd be retired or playing for a mid-table Bundesliga team now, and also because of his self-serving statement that, despite what some people idealise, made it impossible for us to hold him out to the final year of his deal. Absolute scumbag.
