How would you feel if they gave it to someone like Steve Bould? Same money to spend/not spend and the same squad. Would you be happy with that?

I'd be happy to give the job to vic akers 8)

I wonder how quickly he'll sign this one.
Thing is Frank, it's not seen as falilure by his employers, and if we were to be totally honest he is doing a fucking magnificent job in terms of what they want, and as you say he doesn't seem to have any ambition or self respect as far as achieving what we deem to be success.
All we need is to stumble accross an FA cup win, by good fortune as much as quality performances, and the "I told you so", and "ye of little faith" merchants will be in full voice.

there are clearly quite a few people on here who don't know much about football. There is also such a thing as different eras in football.

Arsenal are lucky in that they have remained a big club since about 1930. Other clubs haven't. Manchester City for example have only emerged as contenders in the past 3 years, after achieving very little in 40 years.
The teams I mentioned were all far bigger clubs than Arsenal in the past. Liverpool were a smaller club than Everton until around 1960. Tottenham were a bigger club than Arsenal for a couple of years in the 1960s.

You have to look at the big picture - Arsenal under Wenger have enjoyed their most successful era under the management of Arsene Wenger. FACT. Never before has the club been competing at the top of the league for so long.
And that is why if Wenger wants to continue then he will be offered a new contract.

Jurgen Klopp is not a big name, and I would have him in an absolute heartbeat. Would not think twice about it, he's basically btich-slapped the mighty Bayern, and actually develops quality young players (unlike Wenger) and most of all, HE WINS TROPHIES. Back to back Bundesligas and a wage bill that's under £35 million. That's bloody unreal management.

The AKBs do make me laugh though. On the one hand, they spend their whole time claiming that Lord Arsene has been shafted by the board, 'his hands are tied' and 'Kroenke is sending his rep through the shitter'. And yet, if and when Wenker signs this new contract what will that tell you!

Would a person being held hostage in a dark basement seek out their kdinapper once liberated, and ask them to hold them hostage AGAIN? Course bloody not! It's a farce
Wenger will renew because there is not another single club in Europe that would ever entertain paying a manager over £70 million in wages for 10 years of failure.

I will repeat this: IF WENGER MANAGES ARSENAL UNTIL 2014 HE WILL HAVE RAKED IN OVER £70 MILLION IN WAGES TO OVERSEE A CLUB THAT HAS NOT EVEN MANAGED A TOP 2 FINISH INNINE YEARS LET ALONE A SINGLE TROPHY OF ANY NOTE.

The list of managers who have better trophy records than Wenger since he last won one is comical.
Gazidis interview is possibly the biggest PR own goal I have ever seen, it's simply far too easy to discredit the utter bullshit that comes out of his inane trap.

Babatunde should send the results to AST irrespective of the 80% he wants/has stated
====================================

Dear AST.

I note with interest that the very recent survey results of a poll conducted by your 'organisation' (an organisation whose representatives are rather fast to parade themselves in front of the UK media as the voice of Arsenal fandom), display an approval rating of over 80% for the current manager, Arsene Wenger.

As a lifelong Arsenal supporter however, I am at a loss to explain how this questionable figure has been arrived at. Who was asked? What was the sample size? How was the question phrased?
The reason for my suspicious disdain of your survey results, is that in light of the frankly mystifying news that Wenger may be offered a contract extension, despite almost eight years of underachievement; most Arsenal fan-polls I can see on the internet are nowhere remotely near to the AST 80% approval rating Wenger got.

If anything, the closest to a ringing endorsement Wenger gets are polls that are split down the middle.
Neutral publications such s France's top journal l'Equipe ran a recent poll asking whether Wenger should be retained as Arsenal manager and the survey, voted for by thousands, showed that over 65% of the people voting thought that Arsenal should relieve Wenger of his services.

Therefore please allow me to ask again: how on earth has the AST managed to arrive at a figure of 80%, that has been conveniently used by the pro-Wenger journos, as some sort of popular-wide endorsement for the manager?

And why on earth have the AST not made any effort whatsoever, to clarify that this survey result should in no way, shape or manner be reflective or indicative of Arsenal fan sentiment? (because as every other poll result shows, the AST survey seems incredibly detached from reality).

I look forward to your lucid response
Kind regards

Its a good letter Baba but knock out the lucid and disdain from it, you want an answer, right? AST are more likely to delete this and NOT answer it if they feel youre having a dig right from the start

I voted the 1 year rolling contract, hear me out.

I'm not an AKB. I would like to see Wenger replaced but what if, and it's a big if I know, but what IF we win something this year? Is it enough? A one-off or a sign of better times to come? That's why I'd say give him a rolling contract with performance targets he must meet. These targets shouldnt be top 4 finish and a nice profit. Besides, I said I'd promise not to slate Wenger until christmas (If, indeed, he deserves to be slated then. As I said, we might be doing brilliantly)

Babatunde,

The club only need to point to season ticket sales to back up their argument that there is still big support for Wenger.
surely if people are willing to pay for matches up to a year in advance what greater show of support for the manager can there be?

As I have said before the REAL AKBs are the season ticket holders although a lot of these probably don't realise it.
