I gave up fags today................

Best of luck, mate. I gave up six years ago and although it was a fucking pain in the arse, it gets easier every day that you don't have a fag. I went through all the usual shit like the coughing, the sore throat, the irritability, the panic attacks in the middle of the night and the cravings. My wife and I gave up at the same time and she said we should have a cup of tea every time we want a smoke as she'd read that you need an active replacement for it. The first few days were a real struggle but you get there in the end.I gave up for New Year 2006 and during that Champions League Final, I had never wanted a fag so badly and once I didn't have one and we'd lost, I thought that if I could get through that then it can't be that bad. Anyway, good luck.

Day Four.

Cheers to skizz_b and all other well wishers.

Yesterday was a mare. I had a drippy nose and coughing all the day. I had a fucking bad temper and was like a moody teenager all day long. Sulking and everything. I couldn't be arsed to write up on here as I was looking for an argument.

So, after reading the replies here I feel that I am not the only person who gets that this IS a big deal.
I watched the Arsenal girls last night and celebrated with a few glasses of shampoo. Thing is there was a box of cigars in the cupboard. Usually a glass of the fizzy stuff goes hand in hand with a cigar, during any celebration.
I posted them through my neighbours letter box, rather than throw them away.

Benefits so far are.

I. No choking constantly from the first cigarette of a morning. I have changed a fag for cereal.
II. Morning glory has returned, with a vengeance. Apparently due to an improved blood supply.
III. Appetite is back, meals and snacking and I am still quids in. That film on the tongue has gone.



I am coping with nightmares and sweats. It seems that every fucker who is running after me in the dreams is having a smoke. Bastards. The dreams are not the usual stuff though
Slightly more aggitated than usual. Fuck off.

Good luck to all you others who are considering it or who are also giving up now. I have also got some of the plastic filters to puff on. Not the plastic fag, but like a holder. It has helped this morning as my hands are wanting to do something whilst I have a cuppa.
