Poll - Safe Standing and Aston Villa trial.

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

@Mod's can you set up a poll to gauge peoples opinion on safe standing at the bowl please? I know other clubs fans forums/blogs are doing this.

what type of poll,

yes i want safe standing

no i want all seater :?:

if so i cant imagine there would be too many against the return of a terrace tbh.

We won't go for it as our capacity is restricted by the local transport infrastructure. The stadium could have smaller standard size seats and get 67,000 as it is a replica of benfica's (i think) stadium in Portugal. So I can't see them allowing cheaper standing places and less gate receipts :banghead:

My MP (Bob Blackman) wrote back to me about this.
Said he would not sign the early day motion for Safe Standing because he was not convinced it was safe on the evidence he had seen so far, but would be open to change his mind if conclusive evidence was presented to him.

Conclusive evidence? :? Perhaps he should look at what's been happening in Germany for a number of years? :banghead: :banghead:

Safe Standing Poll

Post by goonerwalker »

Haven't seen a poll on safe standing up on the forum yet (sorry if there is one ) and as its a major issue that is being discussed at the moment I thought it would be good to gauge opinion. Simple yes or no then just justify why on the thread if you wish?

Neither can I. Unfortunateley I doubt we will ever be able to get the suits at the board to believe that  Perhaps AST could have it as a question on one of their surveys, they are still fairly cosy with the board (although maybe not so much following the AGM) and probably have the best chance of getting them to listen

It wont happen because quite frankly the people who run football could not care less about football's traditional fan base. They've spent 20 years replacing the people that want to stand with women, children and tourists. Most season ticket holders these days (at least at Arsenal) are approaching senility and they too have no interest in standing or creating an atmosphere.
