VILLA AWAY

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I'm going for a tight game where both defences play to their ultimate level...........4-7

I can watch most of this but am in Bournemouth to watch Human League tonight at the BIC, so hoepfully game will be rapped up by the time I have to go to the concert :barscarf:

By the way, I'm too young to remember Human League but am taking my Mum :D

I also remember the parachute bloke coming down just to our right , he sort of hung up there for a few seconds then the chute fell to the ground followed by him , nearly put me and Vic off our meat pies !

My other two visits to Villa Park were two semis against manure , the hairy Giggs one and the other semi when we were down the other end and we played Aliadiere (u know who I mean ) up front . Not my most successful ground to be honest with u. :barscarf:

Both teams to score is a decent bet, 3-1 to the mighty gooners! :barscarf:

Goinf for 3-0 with Giroud to score 2 and Caz to get one.

Hopefully an easy win and a clean sheet.

We got absolutely battered for 45 minutes and nicked the luckiest Denilson goal (HA) to go into HT 1-0 up and then pissed all over them second half after this. Unfortunately the arrogance overdrive kicked in, van Staplecunt put a sitter against the post, we conceded a shit goal and then that lanky streak of piss Knight equalised in stoppage time. For me modern day AFC summed up.

Aston Villa haven't beaten Arsenal at home in 13 attempts since coming from two goals down to win 3-2 in December 1998

Arsenal have lost only two of their subsequent 27 league meetings with Villa

Does anybody else get nervous when you see stats like the above, its like its written in the stars that they will beat us today

Absolutely. I'm expecting a draw today, but worried it might be worse. :worried:

if this were an away game against anyone but villa i'd say we'd be lucky with a draw but the villa ive seen this season are awful so i suppose we should win this one.

Another trip down Villa Park memory lane....this time to 1996. Second leg of the league cup semi final and we drew 0-0 but went out on away goals rule after 2-2 at Highbury. Again, I was sitting down the side amongst the Villa with Arsenal packed into the end to our left. But during the game a gooner was carried on a stretcher behind the goal and every few seconds the St Johns guys stopping to give CPR. Game continued as if nothing happened.... Kind of put things into perspective.

Saw Villa go 2-0 up against United a few weeks back, and that was enough to suggest that it's a game we could easily lose if we don't play well....

Subs: Mannone, Sagna, Vermaelen, Wilshere, Coquelin, Arshavin, Gervinho

Bizarre. We're doomed.
