New Commercial Deals

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Not really the same thing though, mate. Even the media called it Highbury (although probably more through ignorance of the proper name rather than buying into the Arsenal culture).

I know a name is only a name but I fucking hate the name Emirates Stadium...

I doubt it. Thought it was a bit weird that we were announcing a new kit deal today when the current one doesnt expire for another 2 years. Expect to hear something early 2014.

Plus the stadium naming rights for the next 16 years.
Looks like just an extension on the naming rights, I think it was locked in til 2021 anyway.
Even if the extension was only for say 5 years, surely that would still change the context of whether this is a good deal or not though? :? I'm no expert at all on these things but if the kit sponsorship is supposedly worth £30m a season for 5 years then surely the stadium naming rights for the same length of time would have to be worth a similar amount, if not more. Even if the naming rights were worth the same £30m a season as the kit deal that alone would halve the value of this deal wouldn't it? £15m a season doesn't sound so great.

And that's working on the premise the extension was only for 5 years - when in fact it seems to be at least 7 if you're right about it originally being until 2021. Plus, the mancs have just bought out their existing £40m (over 4 years I think) training kit sponsorship deal cos they think they can get a significantly better one so being conservative let's say ours would potentially be worth around £25/30m or so of that £150m.

I wont call it a shit deal cos as I say I don't know the going rates etc but there definitely needs to be some clarification over the naming rights aspect of the deal cos at the moment it all feels a bit like typical Gazidis spin. :? As someone else pointed out, "possibly" with an eye on the upcoming march.

Steady on mate did you really think they would name the stadium something non commercial? It was never on the cards. Although i dislike the E******* its far better than say the JD Sports stadium, StadiumO2 or Apple Mac Arena or any other hideous possibilites

Agree with this - announcing a new deal that isnt due to kick in for 2 more years is suspicious especially, as reg pointed out, the BSM march is next week

Really? Pizza Hut? To be fair E******* is a major brand blue chip company can you imagine we'd be (even more of) a laughing stock if we played at the Pizza Hut arena

We should be sponsored by a real ale company, then we can call our home the 'London Pride Stadium'

sure 150m sounds a nice big figure, BUT, united on 45 million a year just for their palying kit, we get 30m a season that covers both shirt, training, leisure kit, and stadium naming rights. something a bit wrong there.

i appreciate we are a million miles from the level of united, but still that sounds like another shit deal to me. if it was 30 m for all kits fine, but surely the naming rights are worth a load in their own right.

if this deal is looked into, even in the miniscule bit of time i have spent looking at it (simply reading the bbc), it seems like we have been shafted again...so much for our expensive commecial team....

please someone correct me if im wrong.

Bank it!

Not gonna lie. I'm a little disappointed. I was looking forward to getting shot of Emirates and having Arsenal playing in The Pizza Hut 8)
