Agreed. He's more of a poacher.
L'Equipe saying a deal is very close to be agreed with Huntelaar.
58 goals in 68 games. Why did we not try and sign him in the summer?????
Don't doubt we could do a deal with him but whether or not we'll get past the stage of bartering with Schalke for the sake of a couple of pence worries me.

Why would schalke agree to sell huntelaar in january ? I know that he is out of contract next summer but they have just qualified (as group winners) for the knockout stages of champs league and surely his presence for these games would surely be worth writing off the 6m ? If they get a winnable draw for the next round then there is no way in the world I can see them selling and personally I dont believe that wenger has any intention spending money to buy him.......sign him on a freebie maybe but cannot see him paying a transfer fee for a guy with 6months left on his contract. Wenger is a miserable c**t
Huntelaar in January. As he scored the first ever goal at the Grove it seems fitting he should play here. I would also consider re-signing Anelka from China if available just until the end of the season, rather than bring back Henry on loan. Henry is always at the club when he's over in the UK, a fresh face and the experience Anelka has would be immensely beneficial.

Exactly what I thought. If we really are only talking about a few million, then it would be silly for Schalke to sell. And it hardly makes sense for Huntelaar to force a move through either - he'll be cup tied at Arsenal so will miss out on CL football in the new year, and would be less financially rewarded than if he left on a free in the summer.
Also, if I was Huntelaar, I'd be a little concerned about how he'd fit into our system. Wenger isn't one to change formation to accommodate different players, so presumably Huntelaar would spend his time as a lone striker, isolated from the rest of the team in most away games. Is that a role that suits him? - Personally, I don't know but it's something he should consider before signing for us.

It's reported that Huntelaar is 'very keen' to sign for us; that could be the biggest factor.
have to chuckle to myself when i read stuff about us buying players in jan that we actually need,if we buy either of the 2 wenger will probably play them out on the wing

Hope so! (assuming he's as good as I read... can't say I've seen much of him myself)

I would be more worried about being put out on the wing instead of up front so we can cross the ball to the 5'10 Gervinho as we did yesterday and wonder why he didn't reach the header. Though some passes he was given were so high if he was 8 foot tall it would have helped.

Good points mate, just so used to this economic-based way of thinking that we live by that it's a shock when other clubs actually care about football. 6 million Euros is the sum that is being thrown about, that really ain't worth it for Schalke given the huge financial rewards for CL qualification alone. The worry is if we squeeze into fourth come January Wenger might not sign anybody full time which will be a fucking travesty.
With 4th place in doubt, we would be crazy not to sign a permanent striker in January.
£7M on Huntelaar in January could get us £20M+ from Champions League next season.
Even a decent Europa run would recoup £5M, and there is no guarantee we will qualify for that considering current form.
