Southampton match thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

This is the sort of game where I fail to see Walcott offering anything special. No running of the channels, no pressure on their defenders when they're building from the back and no physical presence.

Ill take that. Yet again the fucking no mark trophyless *word censored* think they've nothing to do but turn up and roll Southampton over. Piss poor performance. And what's with this shit of hitting it long to Theo?? Moronic.

Happy new year fellow gooners! Nice to see we were feeling generous for their goal, absolutely wretched defending from us, terrible.

Boruc is all over the place so we should be peppering the Polish nutter with shots. Full backs getting forward at will but we lack presence in the box (oo-er).

poldi played a bad ball which started the debarkle, putting saints 4 v 2, but sagna's attempted clearance was a joke, tommy (i think) then made a great tackle but of course it fell to a sfc player cos none of ours were bothering to come back and help, meaning there was still a saints player completely unmarked to steer home from around the penalty spot.

Podolski with a suicide infield pass and Sagna complete miskick of a clearance back across our box.

Poor performance, terrible attitude. Slow, pedestrian, lacking ideas.

Funny to see that that Arsenal "beautiful football" is all but gone now as well. We can't string two passes together and it's been like that for a while.

It was. Why the fuck have a one-man wall from a free-kick 40 yards out on the touchline? If that man had been screening the front post area 12 yards out or so it's an easy clearance. Exactly like the 2nd goal we conceded at home to Chelsea by making an average ball unplayable.

Agree, but somebody needs to tell Schezney to stop booting it down the middle - instead look to Podolski who has got some physical presence.

If Giroud was playing, we may have got something out of the one or two decent deliveries in, but that is just not Walcott's game.

Hardly deserved at 1-1, but it was like that at half time v the Mags so who knows.

Guilty as charged - I still believe that he is the best right full around but he has had an absolute 'mare for the last 30mins of the half

What I will say though is that the attitude from the ox is disgraceful today - he seems lazy with his passing and especially his tracking back whilst his first touch and crossing is shocking  I dont give a fcuk who he is buddies with on teir team cos he is here to do a job for his team and if that puts him in too much of a personal dilemma then put someone else in his place

Todays sums up why I dont believe that walnut should be played up front - playing this cunting system with 1 up front requires different attributes that what wally brings to the table and nothing is sticking up front cos he hasnt got the physique, first touch or intelligence on how to play the lone striker and bring midfielders into play and I dont blame him for that.

If we are honest, not one of the c**ts has played well with the exception of wilshire - podolski has clearly taken the night off, our back 4 is shambolic (I hope lambert doesnt get much service in 2nd half) and arteta and santi are flitting in and out of the game
