Munich at home

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

True, Bayern are by far the better team with a very impressive record, but it doesn't neccessarily mean we cannot beat them against all odds...

Some say 'CL, why bother, we won't win it, no sense in taking part anyway...' or something like that. Well, Blackburn will not win the FA-Cup, but as long as they are in it, at least they'll try to win it...

I'll tell you why......we still have (unbelievably) many brainless sheep within the Gooner masses who still refuse to accept that we are shit and will remain a peripheral team as long as wenger remains in charge :( These people (and some journo's) still cite money as the reason why we can't compete despite being turned over by Bradford, Blackburn and norwich and of course being held to draws by top teams like villa and Southampton and these are only a few examples of a longer list  Lack of resources is a bullshit excuse that these people cannot use and on Tuesday we are again facing a team with less money than we have so what excuse will be trotted out then ?

Putting this simply, in the past wenger and his prima donnas have managed to pull off a shock result when the pressure has been on and that has sadly been enough to quell any rebellion - a humiliation at home will finish off our season and might finally be enough to convince these gobshites that wenger has to go. Either way, there is still more than enough fans out there who want him gone and the "right result" might just be enough to push them into venting their feelings publicly

Not quite true; http://citywire.co.uk/wealth-manager/th ... bs/a653393 But i think I know what you're getting at...

Interesting to see from that site just how much of Bayern's income is from Commercial too. That's what a successful team will do for ya!

Haven't Bayern returned a profit for 19 or 20 years straight or something like that? Either way they're a commercial powerhouse!

They are how we should be run profit every season........minimal 1-3 million euro every other euro spent either to improve the team but also the infastructure of the club.

Fans treated as the most important asset of the club not a side issue.

They will NOT treat us lightly they will expect strongly to go through over the two games like most of us do however like we are underdogs they will not just expect to rock up & win.If we turn up & play they will have only one thing in their minds get an away goal if they do it could get messy out in Germany.

They will be motivated they came runners up in two finals & also the bundesliga last year this year they have come back not felt sorry for themselves & pushed on.

One side hopes to win the tie the other expects to.Mental strength, belief anyone!

Commercial powerhouse indeed, whilst at AFC it's the fans who are forced to cover the missed commercial revenue that comes from poor on pitch performance. Standing ST at Bayern for £100 anyone?

Hmmm I can sense another scenario ahead much like when utd dumped us out a few years ago, early goal killing the atmosphere and people heading for the exits when the 3rd goes in

I really want us to win this game tho, the confidence from winning would set us up for villa at home then the only game I care about, the scum away!

Fuck all this wenger stuff, I can't even contemplate us losing against them.

Got to totally agree, losing and being humilated into the bargain will force Wenger nearer the exit door, as you say short term pain, let's face it we're never going to win the thing anyway, I hope the whole crowd turns on him and the shit players that he's foisted upon us!

I have a sneaky feeling of a 2-1 Arsenal win. We will get turned over on the return leg 3-1. Our goal will come late.

I want to see a change in management, but I'm hoping we go as far as possible in the competition.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog ... ch-arsenal
Up in the stands in the Allianz Arena on that May evening sat Uli Hoeness, completely expressionless. The Bayern president cannot stand defeats. He talked after the game about "this not being the time to criticise anyone", but he was already thinking about the ruthless decisions needed to make Bayern winners again. "We used to laugh about Leverkusen always finishing second. Now that is us," he said pointedly.
Bold decisions? Sacking people when things aren't working? What a novel approach, take note Ivan...

On the game...
We lacked a bit of sharpness at the end, some were fatiqued from the last game, we played well with good mental strength but we can not forget that we played against last season's vice-champions. We were good, but they were better.

On Diaby's injury:
He has a thigh problem, I don't know yet how serious it is, but he's surely out for 3 weeks.

On future:
We still have a season to finish, we have to compete for fourth place in league, which is still possible, so this is now our goal and I believe we can achieve a lot with this team next season.
