Sorry, but I think that is cobblers. I consider that Steven Gerrard is the greatest player of the EPL era. Not interested he never won a title. Had he been at Arsenal, Man Utd or Chelsea over recent years they would have won at least a couple more titles than they did. Force of nature. Far better player than the likes of Giggs & Lampard.
All about opinions, my one is that Vieira and Keane were dominating English Football at the time and Gerrard was elevated to their status by the media because of his nationality. I rate Gerrard as a very good Premier League player but not in the same class as Vieira or Keane. In 2005 I listened to the Ch League Final on the radio. At half time with the Victims 0-3 down the programme went to a venue in Liverpool. The presenter from the venue was of the opinion that Gerrard was being blamed for what was going on. Rafa got him to right back, let Alonso and Hamman do their job and the rest is history. But again its all about opinions.
^ Agree with this 100%. Every word. 8)

Gerard is a very good (sometimes great) player but I wouldn't even put him in the top 5 all time greats of the PL.

According to Adebayore on twitter (cough) Kolo's problems were/are all food related, ie; He is/was addicted to Burger King and KFC. 8)

Scholes - a good player and technically brilliant in comparison to most of his peers but barely anyone (even United 'fans') would have put him in their PL all-time XI 5 years ago. Now that he's come out of retirement and largely embarrassed himself against good opposition apparently that means that actually he was the best player around a decade ago??? :rubchin:

And that's without even mentioning him being given carte blanche to be a dirty *word censored* all his career because apparently it's a reasonable excuse that a central midfielder who has played football every day for two and a half decades 'can't tackle' (chuckle). Or most of the justification for rating him so highly coming from English media sticking a microphone under Xavi/Zidane/Messi's nose, asking them how great they think Scholes is and them being too polite to point out that each of them are at least twice the footballer he ever was.

for me its got to be seaman,is it any coincidence that two of our first three titles under Wenker spunky missed an awful lot of the games?in 98 had he not got injured theres no way on earth that we would have won anything,Manninger was a level higher than seaman that season and won us the double,he was unlucky to be dropped the season after when spunky returned,Manninger should have been our number 1 from there on in.for me seamans only superb season for us was his first one in 90/91 when he was awesome, after that pretty average in my eyes,or maybe he was that good that he made it look easy?? :?

Seaman's biggest skills were concentration and positioning
facing almost nothing, but making one decent save, is a skill none of our keepers since have mastered

I think he made every save look as easy as possible, the opposite of todays goalies
and very demoralising for the opposition

I agree I think in 2002/03 Seaman cost us a fair few points with downright poor keeping. He was coming to the end of his career at the time though in fairness, and had just been on the receiving end of a media battering following that infamous Ronaldinho lob.

Speaking of lobs, ol' Spunky didn't half struggle with them.

The thing about Gerrard is he cannot work as a team. Like at all. It's like he's a chariot and everyone else is just there to repair his wheels. He gets found out at international duty because unlike the prem, you cant just bomb down the centre and score.

My opinion of Gerrard is that he needs a teammate like Alonso or Hamman who can keep him in check during a game. When he's the main man he goes into Stevie Me mode and starts hitting his 50 yard touch finders.
