The £70m Game

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

£70m game? Now I'm as big a carnivore as anyone but isn't that a bit expensive for what is essentially an okay tasting piece of meat? :rubchin:

I'd spend it on one player... and put £100 on us to win the league.

Messi.

Is Valdes still interested in leaving - and coming to us? If so Song could have a shot at Keeper at Barca
Personally i dont want Cesc back - his tenure was entirely unsuccesful.
I would love to have Lampard at the club and De Rossi, add in Hummells
So: Valdes/Lampard/DeRossi/Hummells/Rooney - and ok Cesc if he buys his own train ticket.

Regarding Cesc's tenure being "entirely unsuccessful", this was due to the fact of the dross rabble that Wenger assembled and surrounded him with and managed by a Manager whose tenure since...well you know how long, has been well, entirely unsuccessful - excluding Financial rewards of course. Fact of the manner is, if Cesc had not helped drag us kicking and screaming back into games (and there were numerous games where he practically changed games single handedly ) then the 16 year consecutive CL qualifying 'achievement' that it is now, would probably would not be shaped into an imaginary trophy and Wengers legendary managerial powers would be eroded further. Cesc should have won trophy's with us but through no fault of his own this did not happen.

Lampard at the club maybe up to three years ago but now ??? Will never happen for many reasons the main ones being the age/contract issue and his dressing room 'persona' not forgetting that his engine is not what it was and he passed on Parker same time last year when he was topically in demand due to his form. More chance of Song actually receiving the La Liga trophy or playing in goal )than Fat Frankie playing for us.

Hummels and Rooney would be interesting acquisitions however unlikely :(

Yeah - i don't think any of that is what is going to happen - i do rate Lampard as a player though. Anyway, just playing my turn in the game....

Yeah I'd much rather have Lampard than Fabregas too

Too much wumming too early methinks.

Although whilst we're on the topic Fabregas carried this team for years. In the period 2006-2010 who else was consistently class? With the exception of 2007/08 (where Flamini had a great season and Sagna was great, Adebayor was class for half a season and Eduardo was impressive until his injury) I'm struggling to think of anybody that got near matching the standards that Fabregas set every week until his last season.
