I think in '02 the refs basically tried to stop us
but they couldn't - if you're good enough to destroy the opposition you can overcome most obstacles
Wigan are proper tragic in defence

They can stop us this tho JD........ If the scum win due to a dodgy decision and both the chavs and the scum win out our virtual trophy is blown out of the water.highburyJD wrote:I think in '02 the refs basically tried to stop us

Re: WIGAN HOME
I watched wigan last night and although I wanted them to win (no real reason just did) they are absolutely terrible at the back, it was 10 times worse than what we are capable of achieving (ok 2 times), defenders dwelling on the ball in their own area and when being robbed of the ball look surprised, basic basic stuff.
For Swanseas third goal it was like watching the Keystone cops having a go at soccer, One Wigan defender dwells on the ball in the area while having plenty of time to hoof it into row Z, and when the ball is crossed in and looks easier to clear than fuck up, what happens, the defender tries to chest it down 5 yards from the goal line with a striker close by
It was like watching a mix of Stepanovs, Clichy, Senderos and Eboue defend, hopeless

THIS 100% . Yet I fear we will have another game of fumbling in front of goal , one thing about Wigan is they are decent going forward.LeftfootlegendGooner wrote:I watched wigan last night and although I wanted them to win (no real reason just did) they are absolutely terrible at the back, it was 10 times worse than what we are capable of achieving (ok 2 times), defenders dwelling on the ball in their own area and when being robbed of the ball look surprised, basic basic stuff.

Re: WIGAN HOME
Hmmm I was relatively confident about this until the Wigan v Swansea game. It really is do or die for Wigan and Martinez with their survival as a top flight team more or less riding on this game.
We need to hope we win this and Newcastle secure survival otherwise we will be playing a Newcastle team with everything to lose on the last day.

Re: WIGAN HOME
Their defence the other night was absolutely abysmal. So you can be sure we'll pass it endlessly sideways 20yds in front of their goal.

Re: WIGAN HOME
Caldwell and his pals at the back make Djourou look like Beckenbaur, but we are going to have to start quick and press them from the off. I'm sure we'll have our customary panic in defence so I think we'll need a couple of goals, but if we can't beat this shower we should give up and go home.

Re: WIGAN HOME
I think that we'll beat them on the basis that they have to come at us. By doing so they'll leave themselves short at the back and players like Walcott can exploit that.
Hopefully Newcastle will secure a win this weekend to save themselves so we don't have to endure 90 minutes of panic on the last day.
I'm lucky enough to be going to the Newcastle game and I'd rather be there enjoying it than shitting myself!
