This is now at the point (assuming everything written to date is true) where we have to sign him. If we've bid £40m and he does talk to us then there is no way on earth that we wouldn't go another £5m to meet them halfway. If we don't then it would be yet another embarrassing transfer cock up.

Like it or not ( and I'm just in the like it camp) he will be an Arsenal player within the next 3 weeks. He is a world class player, of that there is no doubt, but is the baggage he comes with worth £45m+? We'll see.

Unless you think Suarez's work rate is too high and he wastes too much energy running around, I have to disagree with you.

Suarez is also in the German Kicker magazine mentioned
http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/intl ... rpool.html
also Podolski who is saying that he is ready for the competition!

Cheers,
Thomas
Really??

His workrate is probably the best of all strikers in the league. He's a relentless, tenacious runner. An absolute nuisance.

fuck me sideways dude,

robert pires dived

vieira Spat at players

george graham took bungs

Keown van nistlerooy

merse parlour and adams and groves lett off fire extinguishers at diners in pizza hut

adams crashed his car whilst smashed off his nut

paul davis served a nine match ban once for breaking a players jaw

Paul merson cociane and gambling and sitting on the physio table stinking of booze

cesc fabregas threw pizza at fergie after a game

didnt hear anyone complaining about that then so whats changed ?

the whole line about arsenal being a classy club is a myth

we won trophies then
I didn't mention anything about us being a classy club :? . That all changed a good few years ago suing hat shops in Spain etc.

Dunno how you can compare Suarez with any of those examples. They were long term players with us, who gave their all at all times and deserved our support.

This fly by night cunt will soon be up to his dirty tricks, like Quartz said, as soon as he's pushing his agenda to move onto PSG/Bayern/Real/Barca.

I for one will be hopeful this transfer ends up like Mata and Alonso.

Afer a lot of careful consideration I voted that I would sign him........but at no more than 30m  I understand that his talent level is above 30m and I will dismiss all the crap he got into at the victims but I cannot escape the fact that I see him fcuking about and pushing for a move within 18 months - within reason I could accept a certain amount of disciplinary issue's if I felt that the guy was committed to the club but I honestly dont think that will ever be the case

I particularly enjoy the comparison between throwing pizza at a rival manager who had spent the previous half a decade spouting off about us and just orchestrated one of the greatest travesties of the PL era and racially abusing and biting opponents out of pure petulance.

Hear, hear. Plus he's suspended until October and the Victim-loving UK media will be all over him all the more. Let him fuck off to Spain and save us all from him.

Agree with both of you. Shameful that Arsenal, with a proud history of black players and supporters, is contemplating signing this racist mental case

As a player yes he's great.

As an Arsenal player his signing just doesn't make sense to me.

Banned for the first 6 matches.

Found guilty of racism (where Arsenal has been a multiracial football club, proud of its inclusive policies for donkey's years)

£40m pounds !

Could well still turn out to be desperate to get away after a season !!

Cockerill's chin wrote:I can't see why such an ineffectual clause would be inserted. It is normal practice for clubs to inform players when bids have been received. The scousers are playing victims again. It has triggered talks and it will trigger a move until Real step in. Liverpool first said it only means they have to inform player. Now they are saying it only allows talks. No legal team would put in a toothless release clause; it might as well be absent.

We aren't getting enough respect for this bid. If it went through would it be the largest fee paid by a non-oligarch British club? Glad we are getting back to the days when we broke the transfer record for DB10. The £1 is being ridiculed but we're just giving Carragher his money back.

This should have gone in transfer thread

Not the first time we have done this.

Signed Malcolm MacDonald for £333, 334 after agreeing to pay Newcastle a third of a million pounds, when asked about the extra, we told them to keep it.

No because I long to see Sanogo and Giroud tearing up the PL and CL and I don't want to 'kill' Joel Campbell and Chuba Akpom

Some people are commenting on how Suarez will miss the first six league games. I mentioned that as a con in OP too but it was due to my impartiality. I don't think the ban is as important as some make it out to be. Here is the fixture list:

Image

We don't have any league games where we'll really need Suarez (or another world-class striker), you could argue that we'll need one against Spurs but even that game is played at home. Also Suarez should be fit enough after he returns in the league, there are potentially three games in two weeks before the West Brom match.

So if we are looking at Suarez as a long-term player, there's no reason a six-match absence should stop us from signing him.

The Daily Telegraph reports that £40M + £1 bid may only entitle us to talks, but no obligation to Liverpool to release Suarez.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/footba ... isers.html

And whilst we are talking "clarifications", this thread is about Luis Suarez not Omar.
