Who the fuck are we going to play at left wing back now?

Is there another proven goal scorer out there somewhere who fancies playing just in front of Gibbs ?

At least his injury means Wenger can have a rest from ensuring that our best finisher by a mile has chalk on his boots all game after the sneaky German bastard managed to get into the same postcode as the opposition goal a few times against Fulham.

anyone who says Pod doesn't deserves a starting place is deluded, hes our best finisher by a country mile,i don't care if hes lazy,i couldn't care if he doesn't track back or make one single tackle during a game as long as hes banging the goals in.cant wait to see him alongside Ozil :barscarf:

have to agree. although the prospect of seeing Ozil on the wing of a forward three is pretty good

With Ozil now in the team i'd be surprised if carzola didn't fill in on the left.

other alternatives are diaby , if fit, he was signed as a left midfielder played his best ever game for us in that position. Ryo is a left footed winger, and Gibbs could move there and monreal in as LB. Or wenger could well resort to the 4411 that won 3 league titles and 4 fa cups.

Picking up from a discussion on the Wenger thread, what is "going on" with Podolski?

I do not expect him to play every game, not with Cazorla and Ozil and Rosicky as his competition, but he seems to be used too sparingly by Wenger?

He had a bit of an ankle knock last season which meant he played less than he would have hoped, and it appeared to cause him to run less than usual.

But a player of his calibre (left midfield) can give use some directness that the other sometimes lack.

Is it that he does not perform in training?
A bust up with Wenger?
Ongoing injury?

What is going on is that Wenger doesn't like him, simples. AW has his own "favourite" players, usually the Ligue 2 bargain basement signings who without Wenger wouldn't be playing in the Premier League and as such owe him one and will do whatever he says.

Which is why he continued to persist with the likes of Eboue, Gervinho, Denilson etc for so long.

It is an outrage that a guy who could deliver us goals on a regular basis, is being treated this way by the wenker  Yes we all want gnarby to do well but if you are telling me that podolski, fresh from a 2 goal performance last Friday night, doesn't warrant a starting place ahead of him then I would suggest a trip to specsavers might be advisable

Not only would Arsene tell you that my friend, he would also tell you that you have not worked 30 years in football.

Wenger's patented "Square Pegs, Round Holes" method of squad management has done for him. He's spent all of his Arsenal career cast out on the left wing - not only that but wasn't given anywhere near enough licence to cut infield and was expected to do far too much covering for Gibbs bombing forward all the time. Now Wenger has decided he'd rather play a creative (central) player out there but with far more scope to drift infield etc.

I'm a big Podolski fan but why did Wenger bother signing him? Even though he's still managed to show his value at times he was never ever going to fit into the system. Although he still deserves a larger role even in this unsuitable formation I don't think it's a personal vendetta, just a case in point of Wenger's stubborness and poor transfer policy.

Wenker looked at his club (cologne) and seen that they were gonna be relegated and thought that he would pick up an established german international on the cheap and from that point of view he was 100% correct. Thing with wenker, and I totally believe this, is that he looks first at the price of a player before looking at how they will fit in and if they can bring enough quality to the table. He cannot be allowed to continue with his policy of playing players out of position and I am astonished that he hasn't been pulled up on this be the players themselves, the media or indeed people within the club - if I was running the club then I wouldn't be happy spending transfer fees and/or wages on players that are not maximising their talents because they are playing out of position
