Wrong decision but hats off to Ashley, a top professional, always was. Englands pride that boy is, yeah he should have stayed at Arsenal but still, deserves better than being fucked off for Shaw. Baines was the youngun, I'd have taken Cole for experience. Oh well, thank you Ashley, genuinely, thank you, its been a privilege having you in our team, fuck the tabloidsnorthbank123 wrote:Cole omitted + retired from international football. Although I disagree as I've posted above, I can see the merits of going with Shaw and barring injury reserve left-back isn't going to do much except carry the water.
Rumours that Barkley is also going. If so might be a case of Hodgson covering his own back - unless he omits a really high-profile player nobody is going to turn round and slam him after the tournament for picking these young players that the media have been wanking over for the last year or two. That sort of team selection doesn't really fit in with my idea of Hodgson's managerial style though - I perceive him to be a pragmatist and wouldn't expect him to throw any massive curveballs with the actual team selection. I fancy him to get England out of the group.

He was just the only one of the "golden generation" that deserved the title. I know this is the least popular place to say it but as England fans we all know it. TBH offered what he was worth he'd probably never have left arsenal. Loyal, patriotic, good lad. In a quarter final if we're lucky enough to get there and Baines is injured I'd rather have him than Shaw. But yes, I love Ashley, I've never pretended otherwise, even on here, just one of many villified by the press, legend, great left back, the best i've ever seennorthbank123 wrote:Sounds like your oestrogen levels are through the roof atm matesafcftm wrote:Wrong decision but hats off to Ashley, a top professional, always was. Maybe youve forgotten mate, with some fucking balls we'll do what we want, Uruguay, Italy and Costa Rica, aye, I'm shaking. Shit bagsm the lot of them, then we're playing some spaccas from the shittest group last 16, have some fucking pride for fucks sake, I know its fashionable to hate england but lick me sack #nosurrenderDemun210 wrote:England won't get out of the group stage
Spot on. "Golden generation", bullshit, Cole's the only one worthy of the name. By the way, a lot of England fans loved him, he was voted player of the season and we applauded his hundred caps. Some clueless mail reading pricks might not have liked him but real England fans love him and always have1989 wrote:Best LB we've ever had. While the rest of the so called "golden generation" flopped on the big stage, Cole was only the one who repeatedly came out with his head held high.
England in the quarter finals and France in the semis. You heard it here first.Demun210 wrote:As much as I want us to do well, I just can't see it. As someone pointed out on my Facebook earlier, it's not the worst thing that's happened involving Ashley's phone etc.officepest wrote:A certain left back has been omitted from the England squad.
