Israel/Gaza
Re: Israel/Gaza
My last post on the subject, but I do have to refute 2 things Quartz has accused me of.
Because I criticise Israel's war crimes it does not mean I support Hamas.
I do not think Jewish lives are worth any less. Strange that you conflate Israeli and Jewish. If I had done that you'd have gone berserk. I think all lives are precious and am appalled that Israel seems to think that Israeli lives are worth a lot more than Palestinian ones.
Over and out
And to quote a not so wise man.
Peace.

Lads, basically everyone's opinion on this is deeply entrenched and not for changing. You've more or less all stated your opinion. So before this degenerates any further into name calling and insults I think it best if we remember this is an Arsenal football forum and maybe just drop the divisive geo-political religious stuff here. I just read this thread logged in to quote when none other than DB had beaten me to it![]()

Was going to say "guys, visit the joke thread and lighten the fuck up"

Lads, I'm certainly not telling people what to post or not here and if posters want to continue this thread then fine, that is their right. But let's be honest we all know it's going to get nasty. Maybe continue by PM? Up to yourselves.

Re: Israel/Gaza
a degree of concern as they blow up children walking the streets ? how nice of an invading armyQuartzGooner wrote:Oh so now we are not "allowed" to defend ourselves?REB wrote:QuartzGooner wrote:And?
But Israeli methods of warning leaflets, phone calls, text messages, media announcements and warning "sound" bombs prior to attacks, plus abandoning missions if civilian casualties are clearly in the line of fire, play a moral role in keeping civilian casualties to a minimum.
how nice of them .
If we do so we at least do so with morality and with a degree of concern for civilians that I have not seen from any other army.

as quartz is fond of saying they are only defending themselves , which i agree they have every right to do but as an outsider it looks to me that israel is going too far, murdering woman and children is not defending your country, i am not a supporter of hamas quartz but all isreal is doing is getting more people to sign up and hate them even more or is that what they really want to justify the amount of weapons they buy every year.
Re: Israel/Gaza
ps
Opposing Israeli slaughter in Gaza should be in no way read as an endorsement of the politics or methods of Hamas quartz
BUT The Palestinian people have a right to defend themselves from IDF aggression and whole scale murder of the people that live there . I oppose Hamas and every other group who claim to fight for there god including their indiscriminate and ineffective rocket fire which is totally counter-productive and does nothing to help the ordinary people of palestine who are the ones most suffering.

Of course this is about Jews and Israel.
One cannot get around that Israel is the only country in the world with Judaism as it's majority religion, 76% of the population.
So much of the animosity over this conflict has been because of that.
So little condemnation of Central African Republic murders and Boko Haram murders in West Africa compared to this, where were the protests about those from so called concerned citizens of Europe?
These protests are not because people die, it is because Jews are fighting back.
The Koran details battles between Muslims and Jews where Muslims win, so any time Israel fights back it upsets some Muslims.
Even if some of the Israeli army are Arabs.

Yes, children have been blown up and it is horrible.
But never intentional from the Israeli military.
Whom abandon missions when civilians are in the line of fire.
Not always possible, but mostly, where possible.
Which is where Hamas differ as they actively seek civilian casualties for PR purposes.
When the battle of Shajaiya raged, Israeli infantry came under a bewildering attack from Hamas fighters out of tunnels, alleys, from apartment windows.
The IDF commander knew he would lose 600 men because Hamas had all the elements of surprise, so considering that warning had been given to civilians to evacuate the area the previous day, he ordered artillery fire on the area Hamas were firing from.
Ten minutes later ten apartments had been flattened and the Hamas firing stopped.
It was them or us.

Please just keep this shit out of the grove. Seeing people in the stands with Palestinean flags (Moh and others) is a major letdown.
I watch and enjoy football to forget about all this shit.

Thank you.

Re: Israel/Gaza
Quartz, your attempts to justify and defend the indefensible are embarrassing, it's fucking mass murder of civilians and children and you can spout all the semetic fucking rhetoric you like, it won't hide the truth.

Re: Israel/Gaza
there's a reason why atheism is on the rise each and every year.
the middle east has always been at war, will always be at war, and it nothing else matter. religion at its finest.
its time to evolve. hopefully in the next millennium all religion will cease to exist. MAYBE then there will be some resemblance of peace and order. probably not though.

Re: Israel/Gaza
Read an interesting article on BBC about atheism in the USA actually. The idea of an Atheism Society or whatever seemed a bit nuts but even being aware that the USA is a more aggressively religious society, I was absolutely amazed at the stigma people faced for admitting to being atheist.Yankee_Gooner_Dandee wrote:there's a reason why atheism is on the rise each and every year.

Re: Israel/Gaza
Sid
I am not the slightest bit embarrassed.
The killing of the children is justified, as sad and horrible as it is.
As preferable as it is to have peace.
It is war.
Never ever intentionally targeted, so many incidents of Israeli soldiers helping civilians in Gaza.
One was approached by Palestinian children who begged him to help them, they needed to go to hospital.
So he and two colleagues took them to a Gazan Hospital.
It was booby trapped with explosives.
Hams detonated the explosives remotely when the soldiers walked in.
The soldiers and the children were killed.
That is Hamas.
Uses schools, hospitals, mosques, community centres, peoples apartments to fight out of.
Use ambulances to transport it's fighters.
And with all it's tunnels, could have let civilians stay in them during air raids.
But chose not too.
Them or us.
Good versus evil.
And Sid, you persistently show your anti-Semitism on this.
At least you say what you are instead of hiding behind some sort of liberal or lovey dovey facade.
I don't want the civilians in Gaza to have to go through war, I want them to have productive lives.
But their rulers have chosen evil and
death as their cult.
This thing will likely grow and grow....the Middle East is aflame.
And meanwhile nothing changes, political leaders use Jews/Israel as a scapegoat to gain cheap popularity to hide their own deficiencies, the UK involved in NATO airstrikes on civilians in Pakistan/Afghanistan ( all be it mistaken, not intentional) but they single out Israel for defending itself and returning fire..hello Mr Clegg
