Sanchez. No one else is worthy; a bunch of spineless, molly coddled divas the lot of them.

Koscielny as vice.

Please dont disrespect the role of captaincy (any more than le cock has :x ) by suggesting that sanchez should even be in the discussion for captaincy after a few months at the club - ridiculous suggestion

Like him or not and rate him or not, at least the BFG is truthful and honest about our form/performances and our need to do better - again today in the papers, he has had a pop at the team and tactics and it does seem as though he is trying his best to undermine le cock and question him and some players publicly 8)

I think Jack Wilshere will be the next Arsenal captain, his heart is in the right place but he may be too often directed by his heart and not his head. He is also a bit petulant and that is not a quality to take the armband.
One of who I would have regarded as an on pitch leader, Yaya Toure, let himself and his team down last night.

I now honestly don't think The BCV should be the next Captain tbh. He is not a leader. He is a follower. He needs a tougher CH beside him. He's half the defender when Kos isn't beside him. At heart, BCV has no grit, no guts. He's a very good defender against certain opposition, but often gets found out by the top oppo. He isn't world class by any means and he is soft as shite. A Captain sets the tone. A Captain takes no shit from anyone on the pitch.

Of the current lot I'm really struggling to pick one deserving of the role or that would be good in the role. :|

Maybe not the most realistic, but he'd certainly be a candidate in my eyes.

Besides, it may well be 2016 before Arteta leaves, in which case Sanchez will have been at the club two years (assuming he hasn't fled by then).

No one stands out.

It is not just about on the pitch form, it is about personality off it.

Merteseacker would appear to have the second but not the first at the moment.

Sanchez?
Has the first but what is like off the pitch? And he is not yet fluent in English.

I actually think the club will go for Mertesacker if Arteta leaves, next in line would be Walcott, with Hayden a future candidate IF he makes the team, he has been captain at youth level.

Be shocked if Wilshere gets it.

i dont think it is disrespectful to suggest that the only player i have seen this year stand up and take a game by the scruff of the neck should LEAD the team. he sets a good example to what everyone on the team should be doing on the field. tenure doesnt make you a leader.

i mean yelling and being a tough guy, shouting directions and pointing works great too though, ask flamani

There isn't a player at the club worthy of the role, and that's how Wenker likes it, no one to question him or put forward a point of view, RVP showed the slightest sign of that when he was captain and imo that was a major factor in his eventual move.
Sanchez is a great player, but a captain? I don't think so.
We are a shambles when we come under any pressure and there is no one there to lead or steady the ship.
Fuck off Wenker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think Wenger attaches any importance whatsoever to the role of Captain and hasn't done so for many years. Lack of a good strong leader on the pitch is quite symptomatic of the way the club has been going for a long while.

Thats seems about right, hold on, he must see himself as Captain, rules all before him it seems  :?
