As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
The latest FA bright idea. You want to know whats really wrong with our game look no further than the fucking dinosaurs at the top. I'm not the most intelligent of people so can somebody tell me if its in their jurisdiction to be able to force clubs to charge less, invest more into local youth football and bring back safe standing etc?
Non-EU players
Basically that means no to any South Americans or Africans with top level footballing potential who didn't move to Europe at a young age.
Which is no-one.
Genius
Does that mean that we would no longer be able to grab genuine talent like Myachi or Park and pay them millions for fuck all ? It is a sad day for football.

All this bullshit about the Spanish league and the German and Italian leagues is based on the top 2 or 3 teams playing each other mostly, when the truth is you will on average see more shit games in those leagues per season than you will in the PL.
You know this how though? Do you watch much Spanish, German or Italian football?
How do you think I know this? Well, yeah - I have watched a good lot. I tend to watch a lot of football, not particularly liking most other sports. I tried for a long time to get into Spanish football in particular as I felt I must be missing something, given the media wankathon over it, and I just couldn't see what the hype was all about tbh. Admittedly, the technical level at Barca and Madrid is often (but not always) better than the top PL teams but outside of those two I saw mostly teams that played a slower more boring version of that technical football. I've watched a good bit of Italian football over the years and found it to be the worst for diving, feigning injury, cheating, gamesmanship and outright cuntiness tbh. Haven't actually watched that much German footy tbh but what I have seen hasn't blown me away either.
Now I admit fully that my view of it would be influenced by my not actually supporting a club in those leagues but that does not exclude me from forming an informed opinion of the quality of the football.
If you read the rest of my post you will see I qualified my opinion that the PL is the best to watch (you get good games you get bad games you get absolute crackers) but not necessarily the best technical football. But then football isn't just about technique - it's also about excitement and entertainment and passion. I remember Italian football in the 1980's being heralded as the great exponent of the beautiful tactical and technical game and it was boring as fuck; 22 passes across the back 4 and then lob it long.
Nice to see you haven't lost your habits of taking one line from a post and blowing it out of proportion and out of context.
Agree 100% with augie about El Classico. It was appalling. It's a game that has delivered some great football in the past but last night it was awful. Cheating diving cúnts all over the pitch. To see grown men carry on like that is embarrassing.

Irony still passing you by?
In fairness, I might do it once or twice. You do it on many many replies. I win.
In the quarter finals of european competitions there are six Spanish teams, three German teams and two each from mighty Portugal and England.
Additionally, the latest England squad looks really weak. I doubt the FA have bothered with hotel reservations after the group stages.
Next year the team bottom of the PL will get more TV money than Bayern Munich, so the PL will further increase its position as Richest league in the world, but no-one will convince me that it's better than its Spanish or German equivilents.
It's clear that they are all about the money and being 'the world's league'; to the detriment of home grown players and by extension, the home nations. The PL are sell-outs.
England have been losing ground in the European co-efficients for years now. It's only a matter of time before our league loses the Fourth Place Trophy - Although at least that may force us to aim higher
Well to be fair, the quality was there in 2007-2009 as well when you had 3 of the final 4 teams in the champions league. Honestly, the quality of the PL has dropped since CR7 left Man U for Madrid. Not saying he was the reason, but that was when the quality started dropping. That was also about the time the German league stepped up in quality.
You're right. That was the PL's golden period in Europe and it has been on the slide ever since.
I think the mid-to-late 90s was the best time, as we weren't overloaded with foreigners but still had exciting games and players. It has become more corporate and product-like since then.
It doesn't look like we can turn around the co-efficient problem, as Leicester and the Scum could get knocked out of Europe early next season and we always fail in Europe under TOF. There's not even much help these days from Chelsea, Liverpool and Man U. We almost have to hope that Citeh win the Be All and End All this season
The wages, the wages.. they are making the players impotent. With the new TV-deal players now more than ever will be coming to the PL for the moneys! An example today is West Ham's supposedly close to signing Valencia top talent Toni Martinez. When was a shitty club like West Ham able to use tradition club like Valencia as feeder-club.
Right now Italian and especially German and Spanish clubs are doing better internationally because they are still well aware this is a team sport. With the current development in England, well it all began there and might as well end there as well. Fuck modern football
GranadaJoe wrote:For a few years I've thought the general quality of teams in the PL has been going backwards. We've only held our own in the top 4 because the teams around us are just as average.
However, the PL and Sky especially (but the BBC and ITV are nearly as bad) forever prattle on about 'the BEST league in the World', '... every player wants to play ininvolved and people seem to buy it. They eulogise average players and talk about them as the new Pele, Hazard, Vieira etc (one Mr.H.Kane for example).
Now, there are no PL teams in any European competition. Spain has 4, Italy 3, Germany 2, Russia 2, even fucking France have 2.
Someone needs to point out that the King is stark bollock naked, not resplendent in the finest threads. There are some good players (although maybe we should start to question that as well), but maybe only one good team.
I don't know what the problem is, but there is definitely a problem.
It may have been pointed out but I haven't read every post...Liverpool are still in the Europa League.
I disagree I think the Premier League is the best league as there are loads of good matches. I've tried watching German, Dutch, Spanish and French football but it just doesn't excite anywhere near enough. It's too slow, too dull. I used to like Italian football but its lost its edge.
We don't do well in Europe at the moment as we don't take it seriously as we used to because of the money involved
