Whether Cech has been worth "15 points a season" or not, is immaterial. He has been a vast improvement on what we had in goal. Shame we got him so late in his career.VoiceOfReason wrote:Cech wins the Golden Glove award, with 16 clean sheets this season.

Re: Cech's a Gooner
Thanks to Smalling Cech won it outright. De Gea was gutted. Well done Petr Cech, who'd have thought an Arsenal keeper will keep the most clean sheets with that defence in front of him. Imagine, how many clean sheets he'd keep if we had a proper defence in front of him? Same again next season please.mcdowell42 wrote:VoiceOfReason wrote:Cech wins the Golden Glove award, with 16 clean sheets this season.
David de gea is on 15 clean sheets and will match Cech if he keeps a clean sheet in Utd's rearranged game against Bournemouth.

I am a big Cech fan but lets not go overboard. An Arsenal keeper did win it just two years agoNos89 wrote:Thanks to Smalling Cech won it outright. De Gea was gutted. Considering the defence in front of him and our style of play with full backs bombing forward leaving massive holes in behind, this is an awesome achievement.donaldo71 wrote:I am a big Cech fan but lets not go overboard. An Arsenal keeper did win it just two years agoNos89 wrote:Thanks to Smalling Cech won it outright. Re: Cech's a Gooner
Have to agree. Also the fact that there was often a 7'11" Big Cowardly Vagina in front of him constantly diving out of the way of shots and ducking headers can't have made his life easy. And two other lads both prone to brain farts at inopportune moments. And then you add in our ill thought out brand of "Zonal Chaos", and the manager's silly insistence on defenders passing their way out of the box NO MATTER WHAT, it's a fucking miracle he kept one clean sheet tbh!nut flush gooner wrote:Considering the defence in front of him and our style of play with full backs bombing forward leaving massive holes in behind, this is an awesome achievement.donaldo71 wrote:I am a big Cech fan but lets not go overboard. An Arsenal keeper did win it just two years agoNos89 wrote:Thanks to Smalling Cech won it outright. Re: Cech's a Gooner
I cant be dealing with all this Cech is past his best bollocks tbh. The bloke is consistently good. Yeah he's had two bad games all season but I will take that with the other option being the deluded clown Chesney.
As I said before I am sat literally behind the goal every game, and you see his positional sense and agility given he is such a big man. I am not sure you pick all of this up on televised games.
That game vs Bayern at home, we where getting battered and it was Cech's saves that kept us in the game.

Re: Cech's a Gooner
If you want to score against him make sure it's hard and low, he is poor at saving those. For a keeper of his pedigree he should be doing a lot better.
Still a good keeper, it doesn't help having the keystone cops in front of him.
Should go all out for Oblak next year.

Re: Cech's a Gooner
Cech's obviously got a year or two left, but I think Butland is a top keeper and surely he doesn't want to continue his career in Mordor.
Re: Cech's a Gooner
Last two internationals and he's fluffed two easy saves...not sure how he managed the golden glove last season.
Mourinho has sold us a turkey. Add to the fact his injury problems and age, he'll need to be replaced sooner rather than later.

Shame we seemingly don't bother coaching ours as whoever we go for as a long-term replacement for Petr "near post" Cech will regress rapidly.
