Revisionist bollocks I'm afraid.IW8Goalmachine wrote:this whole Pep a great manager is a myth.
He had a golden generation at Barcelona and took over a treble winning team and quite frankly underachieved.
This league will chew him up and spit him out
Barca were a basket case when he took the reins. Yes, they were chock full of great players but he implemented the tippy-tappy system and shipped out most of the 'bad eggs' whom he replaced with players he worked with at youth level.
I hope he fails miserably at City, but to say "this whole Pep a great manager is a myth" isn't true.
Re: Guardiola- Up for grabs now!!!
How could Pep follow a man like Wenger.Finishing 4th every year is not easy

At Barcelona he had a team spine that included Messi, Xavi, Inestia, busquets and puyol. Any decent manager would of cleared the deadwood on that team.officepest wrote:Revisionist bollocks I'm afraid.IW8Goalmachine wrote:this whole Pep a great manager is a myth.

In Germany he took over a side that won the CL by ripping apart almost every team and won the treble. He hardly made CL waves with them now did he? He walked a weak league because the only competition (Dortmund) have been going through a Chelsea style crumble for a few years.
Hardly the record to back up the opinions of him being this holy grail of a manager

How many stadiums has pep built?
Exactly, who needs the prick?

Re: Guardiola- Up for grabs now!!!
I guess we are a bit fucked now. The last 2 great managers which we were more than capable of getting (Ancelotti, Guardiola) will be at new clubs for the foreseeable future. Either of those two would have turned this club around. We are now stuck with a clueless senile old fuckwit up until at least 2020.
Pep will win the CL with City's resources while we clamour for an FA Cup at best every season.

Oh, what a surprise! He joins the richest club in the league, where every player he wants will be at his disposal. He's the new Maureen without getting the sack; turns up at a money-bags club, where he has minimal rebuilding to do and wins things. Players dive, cheat, get others sent off, surround the ref at every opportunity and the world hails him as a great manager. Barcelona, Bayern, Man City. Wow! What a challenge!

Well said Offside. What kind of mug claims Pep is shite? When Pep took over Barca they had come off the back of a 7-0 aggregate CL mauling at the hands of Bayern FFS. The players were all over the place, no discipline etc. He took over, won a league and CL double and followed that up with a Treble. Number of managers to have ever done that? NONE.officepest wrote:Revisionist bollocks I'm afraid.IW8Goalmachine wrote:this whole Pep a great manager is a myth.

I agree he takes over the best dominant teams with big resources but that's his choice. With him at Citeh now THIS season was Arsenal's only chance to win a league title. It's gone. Once you give Pep a squad packed with great players and a huge transfer facility, he ALWAYS wins, at a canter. You can forget the PL a title for at least the next 2-3 years. Once Pep arrives there ain't gonna be any of this season's ridiculous inconsistent rubbing by Citeh etc. The other teams will have to massively step up.
So that means no PL title until Pep leaves in 2019. So assuming Le Trou du Cul is still in charge of AFC then, that'll be FIFTEEN YEARS without a league title when Pep swans off.

Have to say I am rather surprised at the timing of this by city. We all know there is a number of players in that squad that like to throw their toys out of there pram when things don't go there own way, it really undermines pellagrini imo and it may just have the effect we want going forward for the league

Re: Guardiola- Up for grabs now!!!
Alexis struggled to get game time under Guardiola because Pep believed he lost possession too often which despite him being a truly magnificent player is still the case with us. Pep's philosophy is to destroy teams with pressure and possession and he doesn't take too kindly to players who cough up the ball to the opposition on a regular basis.enjibenji wrote:oh an p.s we may start making plans for life after sanchez now if we don't win the league this year

Simply not true. He has a team of stars at Bayern and no CL trophy to show for it and I can't see that changing this season.Ikechukwu1 wrote:Well said Offside. What kind of mug claims Pep is shite? And no one said he was shite, it was said that it's a myth to how good a manager he is
