As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Still confident? more like same shit different gravy!....
Very much so - wenker left an absolute shitfest that will take more than a season to completely fix, so expecting everything to be sorted within a month is totally unrealistic.
It also needs to be mentioned that our starting 11 yesterday cointained only 5 players which should be in our first choice time (in my opinion) - when you mix first team players with the younger inexperienced kids, you are always going to get disjointed performances like yesterday, so I certainly am not worried (except about the absolute shitfest of our penalties )
Once upon a time a friendly would be utilised as a good marker of what and how your season will give you, and that meant playing your strongest side with a couple of opportunities for young talent, this is just a shirt selling exercise and those shirts are hideous along with those fucking spotty numbers resembling walking talking Mr Blobby's that Noel Edmunds would be proud of...
A visit to the Aviary, Zoo, and tears of joy from Singaporean Arsenal supporters adulation..
And I bet that prick Cech was in goal for the penalties, the managers worth started yesterday, and he is already 10% down...
you concede friendlies are now bollox pr exercises and no markers, then in the very next sentence you state the managers worth starts on them, makes 0 sense you completely contradict yourself!
i think some of us wobs are so used to moaning we will actually be sad if dick succeeds as we will have naff all to moan about! (and the akbs obviously who cant wait for him to fail)
Lacazette kept drifting out to bangabang's wing and left no c.unt in the middle.
Maybe Auba should have switched then . Not defending or criticising anyone but there is nothing wrong with forwards switching position in fact dragging defenders around is a good idea.
Freddie & Pires would often swap wings, as you say it mixes it up makes defenders uncomfortable but it’s still needs balance in the team.
yes but wasn't lacazette the striker in the formation?? if I'm a striker I'm in the box full time u never saw wright , fowler shearer or any decent striker fucking about on the wings .......
That's my point - I dont mind players swapping positions and I can see the confusion it would cause for opposition defences, but what lacazette seemed to be doing was freewheeling and doing his own thing. No system will work when you have 2 centre forwards getting in each other's way out on the wing and no-one in the middle
I think what Augie is saying is that he is desperate for the return of Super Nik, the Lord Bendtner..........
cant believe people are bitching about the performance, firstly it was a friendly with a weakened team, its about fitness, secondly if you read some of the reports about it from various journos its a far differant read than in this place, what they saw was encouraging, the new French lad looked decent and shows promise unlike here where its been stated he is shit, remember he is one for the future,he isn't going to be a starter come Man city, thirdly pre season bears no indication at all of how the season will go,remember when LVG took over at man utd, they were flying pre season, but come the opening day of the season they lost to Swansea and so began a shit fest of a season.jesus we are just one semi proper game in to Emerys reign and all ready people are moaning, wtf is up with you??!! I imagine it will be spring at the earliest before we see how things are going to go with him in charge,
Think that is harsh tbh - I know that he didnt pull up any trees, but he is a young lad that only joined the squad a few weeks ago and we have to allow him time to bed him in. I thought that he looked decent and far better in possession than xhaka
The old he's young excuse.Thats what we heard about Wally and Wheelchair for years.A player can still be young and shit

I think that you are over-reacting slightly there marky - I dont think that anyone is giving out like you suggest and I think that some of those "critical" comments were made tongue in cheek. There are a lot (and I mean a lot) of Gooners who right now feel that a major load has been taken off their shoulders - I am one of those fans, and right now I want to enjoy this feeling and even take the piss out of a defeat

I wish him well but it's going to take a few seasons to rid the club of Wengers DNA and I am sure Kroenke will be very patient with him...
The game against Man City might surprise us, and hopefully will show how far we have come since the overthrow of AW...
Which was only 5 minutes ago btw....

Chill Winston!
I just hate friendlies, especially losing on penalties, and as you can see I took no interest in it as I asked superior beings like yourself if Cech was in goal....
never saw wright , fowler shearer or any decent striker fucking about on the wings .......
Wright against Swindon ?
No system will work when you have 2 centre forwards getting in each other's way out on the wing and no-one in the middle. Agreed ! Then again that's the purpose of the freindlies , something to work on.

You could question why Henry was so deep to pick up the ball in his wonderful individual goal v Liverpool, he was nowhere near where he should have been , but it worked on that occasion.
In the past we had fluidity within the team, if someone bombed on, then cover was put in place - that hasn’t happened for years.
Didn’t we beat Man City 3-0 or something a couple of years ago pre season ? It is a friendly, no real insight into the season ahead just a good workout and P.R exercise

I know that it was a good workout and I agree it only highlights the small things that need to be worked on, but there is a huge difference between then and now - back then we had a 4-4-2 (or a 4-4-1-1) system that left Bergkamp (or another striker) central if henry went out wide, and henry was going out wide to get into space. In this current system (4-2-3-1) there is already a player out wide so drifting out there gives neither space and leaves the middle empty. Certain tactics are compatible with certain formations, but it isnt a universal one fits all type of thing
Somehow despite it all crashing down around Wenger’s ears for the last few years we have been left with one of the best goal scorers in the league and probably Europe. Even last season after joining a fucking joke of a side he scored 10 in 13.
Please fucking play him where he will score goals and don’t play a system where he will be less effective just to accommodate Lacazette who isn’t even nearly good enough to think about doing that for.
