Why anyone would prefer no European football as to some European football is absolutely beyond me

Firstly, if your argument is that it helps Arteta keeps his job then that is quite clearly horseshit as these goons had decided to keep him when it looked like we might finish 10th. Josh K is already talking about exciting Summer plans and there is no doubt that involves Arteta

Secondly, if you're going to suggest it means we are free to concentrate on the league, then you're as deluded as fuck because this clown won't be getting us any more competitive in the league any time soon

The Europa League was absolutely crucial in the development of Saka, Martinelli and others in recent seasons and I firmly believe if we had no European football we wouldn't be seeing them at the levels they are at today.

The snobbery amazes me for a club that has won 2 European trophies in its history - the last of which was the third tier competition in Europe 27 years ago. I don't remember people being too upset when Smudger's winner hit the net in Copenhagen

The likes of Balogun and Azeez could regularly feature in this thing if we make it - and personally I'd rather see them get a dozen games in our colours than being farmed out to fucking Charlton or some shitty second rate Belgian team. If we qualify then it should be used as an academy competition. Can't see what's so bad about that?
I agree SteveO - while it’s obviously not a top European competition, it is an ideal opportunity for our youngsters to gain crucial experience, a way to keep squad players match fit, and give a rest to key performers.

It also should serve as a stark reminder how far we have fallen from the top, and needs to be used as a stick to give these primadonna’s a kick up the arse, if they think they deserve better.

You are deluded on that point Steve O and deep down you know it - we have had nothing to play for in the league for a long time, and yet neither of these kids have got any game time, and I dont think that they have even made the bench for those games. Pep's cone boy has shown an absolute opposition to blooding young players and bringing them through - let's not forget that back in august he excluded saliba for the thursday night cup and included 2 players who were out injured (and not short term injuries either). His disgraceful treatment of martinelli has shown lodly where his mindset is, and make no mistake that next season will be no different cos the results and performances will be no better than this season, and he will be afraid to go with the younger players cos his job will be on the line.

This

I’ve had little interest in our league games (except the obvious one home and away) for nigh on a decade tbh. The cups, domestic and European, are all that keep me interested these days

Don't disagree with the points you raise mate but I think the third tier competition will be treated like the League Cup, whilst in the Europa League he has still been tempted to play some of the same old dullard pricks

If we're clogging it across the 'continent' from Iceland to Kazakhstan even this helmet will need to blood some of the kids surely?

I also think its partly going to be taken out of his hands as the over bloated squad built by Wenger is gradually being ripped up. The club can't carry on with the existing wage bill and so I fully expect/hope to see Bellend, Willian, Nketiah and Lacazette all sold, probably with a bunch of fringe players and loanees. He simply won't have the depth of nine centre backs, three right backs, three CFs etc to fuck the likes of Balogun and Saliba about any longer. Ceballos will be gone too, and Odegaard.

Quite simply, because I'm exhausted with the amount of "get out of jail free" cards the Kroenke's get when we manage to scrape into Europe.

I don't want to see qualification for the Conference League as something to be lauded by Josh Kroenke, Edu or Arteta, as a 'success.' I don't want to see that smug yank wheel himself out in front of a camera and say 'it's a springboard for the future" or whatever knobby soundbite they'd use. It's the same old crap and has been for the last few years. Those cracks can't be papered over anymore.

I know Arteta won't be sacked. I know it's highly unlikely it will lead to the yanks upping and selling right away, but I'm tired of the bullshit now.
