Re: PGMOL: Corrupt? Or Not?
I'm have no idea how they could be 100% certain that the ball was out. When the ball is off the ground it is virtually impossible to say. Why not have the goalline technologyfrom corner to corner? .Perhaps it was out, however the second part of the check was very quick...A lot quicker, if memory serves me, than when they gave goals against Arsenal last season.
Why the Assistant Referee raised his flag for an offside is also baffling. Why not let it play out, then VAR can be called in to the equation. ? Reminded me of the disallowed goal against Victims FC, ref got a fright when he saw Arsenal were about to score so he blew for an imagery foul.

Absolutely. Their instant reaction with us is to stop us scoring or to negatively affect us with a booking, sending off or whatever. There is no benefit of the doubt ever in our favour. With the dippers, cheaty and manure, it's to do everything to help or avoid making a decision that can impact them in a negative manner. The refs are bent, there's corruption and fraud rampant in their PGMOL, betting syndicates own a number of referees, the broadcasters are in on it too and use their airtime to push their agendas and biases and then on top of all that, there's the middle eastern governments pulling the strings behind the scenes through open bribes and political influence.Bradywasking wrote: ↑Thu Apr 24, 2025 5:25 pmI'm have no idea how they could be 100% certain that the ball was out. There really isn't any excuse left for the continued occurrence of such obvious inconsistencies in the approach to refereeing. We either have to accept that every referee is terrible and doesn't know the laws of the game or that there is corruption, cheating, fraud and match-fixing at work. I've been of the opinion for years that the most realistic answer, is the latter. This season has further confirmed that for me beyond any reasonable doubt. In fact, I'd challenge anyone in a court of law to prove to me that there isn't match-fixing and fraud taking place every week and in every game in English top flight football. I'd also be willing to openly accuse them of having a campaign against Arsenal and that preventing us from winning has formed a central part of their discussions and meetings over a number of years.

Yes, the decision about the ball being out of play was very quick. They showed a camera angle from the other side of the goal, so you’re looking along the goal line, with the posts lined up and the commentator said something like “yes, definitely out of play” and the picture was gone. I thought, fuck me, I didn’t have a chance to look properly and I suppose I should have wound back and stopped the screen, but frankly, I couldn’t be bothered.
I know Perry is absolutely convinced about the corruption and while I’ve always tried to avoid the conspiracy idea, this season would make anyone have serious doubts.
Still, I’ll say it yet again, it’s up to the club to compile a dossier of video evidence and confront the authorities and demand an explanation.

A dossier would also have to point out how other clubs are dealt with in similar situations. For example Doku kicking the ball away in the City Trossard red game. The referee apparently claimed he told Doku to kick the ball to Rice for an Arsenal free to be taken.Doku kicked it yards away. Why would a referee tell a player to kick the ball to an opposition player to take a free? Why would the player do it?
I don't want to believe in the conspiracy theory, in reality how could you prove it exists? There are hardly emails or WhatsApp messages sent out from PGMOL to officials telling them to referee different clubs in different manners.
Every supporter believes their club is targeted by officials and by the media.
Historically Arsenal have been on the wrong end of some dreadful decisions. FA Cup Final 2001, 50th game at Old Trafford etc. Surely however the club must be concerned by this season and at least ask the questions.
Another problem Arsenal had was Wenger's excuses, we were seen as whingers , and maybe as a result legitimate complaints were dismissed as whinging.

Also part of the Anti-Wenger thing that gradually became the thing with which the media would Beat Us, was the Brits Are Best, the Anti-Foreigner Thing that was never spoken of but was as clear as day... That sentiment and Attitude was further encouraged and stoked by Rednose, Allardyce, Pardew (remember him shouting at TOF on the touch-line (when the shammers beat us at home - when Sol Campbell went AWOL at Half-time) "Made In Britain" with reference to their scorers being British and our lone scorer being NOT British...Bradywasking wrote: ↑Fri Apr 25, 2025 5:39 amA dossier would also have to point out how other clubs are dealt with in similar situations. And since then it has been Perfectly Okay and Legitimate to use any means by which to get the better of Wenger and so Arsenal; as a Club. Team or whatever.
It is of a form of Racism that borders on Jingoism... The PGMOL are a tool that the FA will use when it suits their purpose, or at least it used to be, but since the real BIG Money took over the game; particularly with the likes of Chavs Russian Mafia-Murdering Cũnt Abramovich and now Cheaty running things The FA have been blindsided by the BIG Money / Owners... hence they are struggling to both have a say in what Webb and his Corrupt Cohorts say & do and make any headway with the 130 odd charges listed against Cheaty.
It's a real can of worms that began to be opened way back in the 80's....

I remember hearing that members of the media on talk shows knew that any mention of Arsenal and the lights on their monitors lit up like the strip in Las Vegas. That's how Adrian Durham made a living for many years and people like John Cross filled their pockets with newspaper articles .
Now if you read Arsenal sites across Facebook they are inundated with comments from Africa .
The fact is that Arsenal supporters are believed to be the easiest to get reactions from and those very reactions sell papers and give fodder for talk shows .

I know that I never miss an opportunity to bash the old fraud, but I always thought that Wenger was the root cause of so much anti Arsenal sentiment. He was an arrogant fucker with a clear sense of superiority and it was obvious that other managers couldn't stand him. As OBG has said, Fergie stoked a lot of that, as a means of undermining us, so while other teams (Fat Sam's as a prime example) would roll over for Utd and the manager walk off at the end all smiles with Ferguson despite a 4-0 loss, when they played us they'd kick us off the park. Even more infuriating was that the referees would allow them to do it and invariably book or send off one of ours at the drop of a hat. I was convinced that none of them had any time for Wenger and that was largely behind the problem. Apparently he didn't usually do the meeting with the other manager after the game to share a glass of wine thing and he was an aloof clown.
I've said on here before that when Mourinho arrived at Chelsea, I thought sparks would fly between him and Fergie, because at that point it was clear that Chelsea were the main threat to Utd's dominance and I thought Fergie would hold a grudge after the way Mourinho had run down the line celebrating when Porto scored late on to put Utd out of the CL. No such thing....they buddied up and targeted Wenger, with Mourinho being especially spiteful. I always felt that Fergie was orchestrating everything and that he was phoning other managers before they played us to offer advice on how to rough us up and make life difficult, while also bad mouthing Wenger. Maybe I'm paranoid, but I always suspected it and thought how Wenger made it so easy to be disliked.
I'm rambling.....sorry chaps.

Really Good Post mate... made total sense to Me....

Re: PGMOL: Corrupt? Or Not?
The only element of corruption came at the very start of the process when it was clear that nobody in authority in England wanted it to work properly - a typical English football mentality that holds the game back. Various big international tournaments and other leagues have implemented it and you barely hear a whisper, in stark contrast to the endless controversies you see in the Premier League.
The biggest issue by far is this frankly ludicrous usage of VAR to correct "clear and obvious" mistakes, when its entire original purpose was to rule on things that were anything but clear and obvious! So in its present guise it will never work properly because those making the calls have to rule on a totally subjective thing called "clear and obvious" and therefore being part of the cozy club with the refs they will come down in their favour 90% of the time to avoid a glaring "clear and obvious" mistake.
Its a horrendous and expensive misuse of technology that could be cleared up and improved in a heartbeat. But it won't be. Because this is England, the FA and the Premier League

Re: PGMOL: Corrupt? Or Not?
I fucking hate VAR.
Always have always will - don't worry I'm not going to repeat all the reasons I've previously mentioned on here numerous times before!
The key thing is it ruins the enjoyment of celebrating goals and, as a direct knock on, the possible enjoyment of celebrating that greatest of things - the last-minute win.
The ONLY way I'd ever accept VAR is on a request basis where the manager of each team gets one or two VAR reviews at their request per half. Once they use them, that's it they're gone, tough shit. This way it would ruin less games and could still help get most of the big decisions right.
Otherwise fuck it out altogether.

Re: PGMOL: Corrupt? Or Not?
That is definitely a variant that should work and whilst I know you're not a cricket fan it works very well in that sport. Teams use their reviews stupidly and when they run out and are on the end of a wrong call then tough shit, serves you right. I also think it encourages managers who moan like fuck about decisions to stand up and take ownership. If you think its wrong, then call it out and have it reviewed. If you're proven correct, great, you get the decision AND keep your review. If you're proven wrong then lose the decision, the review and shut the fuck up! Again mate, this is England and the PL so sensible suggestions won't be implemented. Instead there'll be some fangled new rule that gets religiously checked for the first month of the season, some poor fucker harshly punished before we go back to the nonsense we have now. This clear and obvious bollocks gives it zero chance of working, so you might as well scrap it......which is of course what the English football authorities always wanted to start withDB10GOONER wrote: ↑Mon Apr 28, 2025 8:17 pmI fucking hate VAR.![]()

The fact that we spend most of our time passing sideways outside the area might have something to do with it.
