MAN CITY THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Look at that tackle and the one against United last year, which I recall them upholding the red card for. Jumps into both with both feet off the floor. But against United his studs weren't showing and he merely jumped in front of the ball and blocked the ball with minimal/no contact with the player. Against us he jumped into the tackle with his studs showing meaning that collision was infinitely more likely and therefore a far more dangerous tackle.

Yet another shocking example of FA inconsistency because they want to cause as little fuss as possible.
I think you are right. Most experts seem to agree that, according to the rules, a red card was the correct decision! I find it very hard to believe that Mike Dean would, as he must have done, admit that he had made a mistake unless he was given no choice....
Very odd for a ref who was looking at it from a matter of yards away to have his decision overturned. Given that it was at least arguable that it was a red (unlike if it was a dive or a professional foul where he touched the ball in fact), I'm amazed the FA have overturned it looking back at their track record on reckless tackling and backing refs to the hilt beyond the point of sanity at times.
