As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
This move by Liverpool for Chamberlain stinks of football politics.
According to John Cross there has been bad blood between the two clubs since the Suarez £40m+£1 incident.
I would say this has more to do with van Dijk than Chamberlain himself. I'm sure I saw a clip on BT sport in which Chamberlain declared his idol was Gerrard, and aspires to be like him. So, with Gerrard on the Liverpool tràining staff I imagine that is a big pull for him.
For football political reason selling him to Liverpool for anything less than £50m would in my mind push Arsenal lower down the list of desirable clubs to play for.
John Cross has to be the most pathetic journalist in the media. Wenger will do business with anyone willing to pay up.
Ox wants to play in midfield and has made this desire known for sometime. Wonga did so two seasons ago against Barca in the CL only for him to injure himself with a suicidal tackle on Mascherano. That put him back to square one and it's been up and down since. Considering the cloggers we are currently playing in there, he should be disappointed he's not given a look in. It would explain the poor performance against Liverpool as he looked like he just didn't want to be there.
Chelsea have quality in midfield and are looking to buy Drinkwater or Barkley so his chances are slim there. I'm not sure about Liverpool either unless they shift one or two players. Likely he will run down his contract and leave on a free. If he cannot get in this Arsenal midfield, likely he won't get into another top 6 side for the money Arsenal are asking for. You can't knock him though for looking after his career.
Looks very much like the Ox is more than happy to see out this season at Arsenal! I wouldn't play him at all.
I'd like to think that he is gonna wait until end of season to see if there is any change in the managerial position - of course that could well be naïve thinking, and I'm not saying that I believe it either, but what I am saying is that the players aren't fools and they know that wenger's position is looking more and more untenable with each passing day, and given that we know that the ox doesn't rate wenker, he might just prefer to sit tight and see what happens there. Look at it this way, if wenker stays the ox will be able to walk away on a free next season to a club of his choosing and with a healthy signing on fee into the bargain, but if wenker fcuks off he will be able to stay at a club that he knows and feels comfortable in without going through the upheaval of moving - it's a win win for the ox imo

Unless he continues to throw his toys out of the pram, doesn't play that much and loses his placell in the England World Cup Squad.
It shows how inebriated he is with his own self worth that he turns Chelsea down because he wants to be the new Liverpool midfield maestro . Oh the Ox the Ox his face has got chicken pox ,he plays for the pool red sox ,hope he gets a knock !
if he plans to say at out great club and just pick up his wages and wait for next summer, he should be placed in the reserves and never play for the first team again

mr wenger ?? Are you for fcuking real ?? The man is a total c.unt and doesn't deserve such respect - clearly you are still a wenger apologist and wenker supporter

Haha yes would love it if the players did a Chelsea (2015-16) and downed tools to f*ck over the manager, I'm not sure they have the balls for it though, as Wenger is too much of a nice guy when it comes to "his boys", compared to Mourinho who is far more ruthless.
Would be even funnier if Wenger got sacked next summer and Ox signed a new deal..
Then again we are owned by wiggy w*nker so I need to stop dreaming..
Just to summarise/clarify this situation, we condemn the likes of gibbs/Jenkinson/wally etc cos they are prioritizing their hefty wage packets and a comfy existence at the club over moving to kick start their career at another club, but we also think that it is right to condemn the ox for prioritizing his career over staying here for a comfortable lifestyle and for turning down the chavs despite a serious pay rise on offer ?? Please make your minds up ffs, cos we cant have it both ways
