Will I Am is not going to end up at midtable mediocrity when top champions league and Europa league clubs are interested. They can bid all they want, another target will give them the 'finger'.Red Gunner wrote:The Guardian is reporting that Liverpool are going to make a £30m bid for Willian:

If it's true, it either means Luis Suarez is leaving or that Liverpool are showing Suarez that they can compete.
If the Scousers keep Suarez and sign Willian, they'll really challenge for the top four.
This transfer window is horrible, instead of looking at how we can catch the Manc clubs and Chelsea, we are now looking over our backs and hoping that Sp*rs and Liverpool won't catch up with us
SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign

Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
It should be noted that we have a available first team Squad of 24 including Bendtner and the Hospice Dweller Diaby ,Chelsea have 30,UTD have 38,City somewhat Surprisingly have only 26 listed.
Vermaelen, Diaby,Sonagol are all injured for how long we dont know but this leaves us with 19 available players.
Most Pub Teams have more than that !

Go on you know you want to, give Luis every reason to say I'd rather join mid-table Wolfsburg than come to The Arsenal

Napoli are preparing a late bid for Bayern Munich midfielder Luiz Gustavo. The 26-year-old is set to announce his future plans on Wednesday, with Arsenal one of the clubs interested in his signature.

Last year there was no mad dash. We let Sammy do it because he whined like a bitch about doing it.OneBardGooner wrote:g88ner wrote:19 days to go... then this disgusting transfer window slams shut!

although I guess if we're counting Bendtner and Diaby, then a pub team's squad includes "a bloke who was walking his dog that plays in his shoes" and "can we have one of yours?"

Suarez was always going to make some sort of false peace with the fans until they had the chance to sell him abroad.
Liverpool fans are the thickest, most gullible morons on the planet - despite them almost universally complaining about him mugging them off (because Brendan said so in amongst lots of buzzwords like "tradition", "pride" and "respect"), half of them are creaming themselves because he apparently told a Uruguayan journalist that he's staying out of adoration for the fans.
What's most embarrassing and worrying for Liverpool is that this is the fuss he was willing to kick up to engineer a move to us, not the likes of Madrid or Barca or a moneybags club.

This Luiz Gustavo transfer is real test case for the club I feel, this is an available player who has stated his admiration and almost desire to play for us, he's got bags of champions league experience and plays in a position we definitely need to strengthen.
Well we see
I can't wait for 1st September when this torture will be over and we'll know one way or another the direction the club is going in.

I think the test case was Higuain. The Knowing One wrote:This Luiz Gustavo transfer is real test case for the club I feel, this is an available player who has stated his admiration and almost desire to play for us, he's got bags of champions league experience and plays in a position we definitely need to strengthen.

Gazidis said we could do deals that would excite people and highlighted our ambition to push on and challenge for the title. Signing Higuain for £30m+ would have been a massive show of intent... instead we backed off because we didn't like the asking fee, and risk missing out on all the top strikers now.
And Higuain ticked the boxes you mention too, didn't he?
available - tick
stated admiration - tick (via his agent and family)
plays in a position we need - tick tick tick tick
With all respect to Gustavo, I'm not convinced this is the marque signing that will unite the fans. Seeing Giroud up front every week will dilute any good will gained from signing Gustavo.

looks like Arsenal is crusing in for Gustavo

Laut "goal.com" hat der FC Bayern ein Angebot von Arsenal über 20 Millionen Euro bereits angenommen.
Arsenal has placed an offer around 20 Millionen Euros which was excepted by Bayern Munich.
But now maybe Barcelona is also going for the player?

The club may have had the excuse at the time that they were looking at Suarez, but yes IMO HIguain would have been an excellent signing, alright it would have meant we got dicked about by Real Madrid but who would of remembered that once the season started.g88ner wrote:I think the test case was Higuain. The Knowing One wrote:This Luiz Gustavo transfer is real test case for the club I feel, this is an available player who has stated his admiration and almost desire to play for us, he's got bags of champions league experience and plays in a position we definitely need to strengthen.

I must admit even I didn't think Wenger would have the balls to go into the season without any major signings this summer, first bad result there is going to be an absolute shit storm.

Agreed, if their intent is to divide the fans and chip away at the last remaining good will, then they're doing a damn good job. Still time to change that, I suppose - but yes, the atmosphere will turn very sour if we don't beat the Villa.
Oh, and welcome to the forum!

I had my 'we won't win anything under Wenger' back in January 2010 (Man U home) but still I've wanted him to something, anything to make me believe in him, still waiting.
Worryingly I not sure how far away I am from actually wanting the team to lose games, if it will mean a change at the top.
Thanks for the welcome
