SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Even I don't think Wenger would be party to a deliberate "low bid bluff"
I am probably lining myself up for a major disappointment, but maybe we are going to have a very rewarding transfer window.
Whatever happened to this Sid?  :(

Well we see

I can't wait for 1st September when this torture will be over and we'll know one way or another the direction the club is going in.
I think the test case was Higuain.

Gazidis said we could do deals that would excite people and highlighted our ambition to push on and challenge for the title. Signing Higuain for £30m+ would have been a massive show of intent... instead we backed off because we didn't like the asking fee, and risk missing out on all the top strikers now.

And Higuain ticked the boxes you mention too, didn't he?

available - tick
stated admiration - tick (via his agent and family)
plays in a position we need - tick tick tick tick

With all respect to Gustavo, I'm not convinced this is the marque signing that will unite the fans. Seeing Giroud up front every week will dilute any good will gained from signing Gustavo.

Pretty sure Mata and his father did the exact same thing 3 summers ago and we still didn't get him.

Add to the list Mr Wellington Silva who has signed a season-long loan deal with Real Murcia .

Portsmouth will be proud of us this is the clear outs of all clear outs .

The club may have had the excuse at the time that they were looking at Suarez, but yes IMO HIguain would have been an excellent signing, alright it would have meant we got dicked about by Real Madrid but who would of remembered that once the season started.

I must admit even I didn't think Wenger would have the balls to go into the season without any major signings this summer, first bad result there is going to be an absolute shit storm.
There will not be a shit storm at Le Grove mate. No, nae, never, no way. :D

and Welcome

I still cannot believe, yes I should know better, that we are less than three weeks to the end of the transfer window and we still have not spent a penny.

The selfish ditherer still wants to do things his way, and we must all suffer on the back of his whims. What a dreadful man. So sad our inept media cannot see through him. Hopeless.

We're not going to sign top players until we stop treating every negotiation as if the club is desperate to sell the player.

I'd take The Pharoah, good player
we will def make a few signings, how could we not
if we lose to Fener in the meantime that would rightly create a shitstorm

There was booing at HT in a friendly at the Grove, natives are restless
may not be the 'normal' fans of the club but it's undeniable our fans are not happy
we really need football to start and good results to lift us
but this season could be over before its begun. The club is under huge pressure right now.
Target should be at least third and big cup improvement, these playoffs are a nightmare
that looks a long way away with this small a squad

I've read your comment several times but for some reason this is the only part my brain registers.

Suarez has given up on an Arsenal move apparently. Oh well there's always Higuain.
