The Summer 2014 TRANSFER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I doubt we are going to be blowing the bank for CB's, so cost wise I don't see that many available unless we get some young French kid who'd take a couple if yrs to acclimatise.

The fact Barca are looking for a first choice CB and have apparently made a bid for Vermaelen says it all. Clearly top calibre CBs aren't available.

If I'm wrong (and that in itself is a rarity  ) and we not finished our transfer business yet, then why have things gone so quiet ? The rumours of bender, khedira and even carvalho have dropped to a whisper from where they were. If tv5 goes (and I wish him luck IF he goes to barca) then we might buy another centre back, but if he stays then rodders will only have natalie's tits to look forward to on august 31st 8)
I just want to be inside her 8)

That too. When is deadline day? The 31st is a Sunday so it will hardly be that?

EDIT

Just looked it up and it's Monday 1st September at 11pm. Trousers down :barscarf:

If ever there was a time to make a move for him then this is it -

http://www1.skysports.com/transfer/news ... h-chairman

Dortmund will surely now be awake to the consequences of selling/losing your best players to your nearest rivals, so would they rather sell now for his buy out clause or wait 12 months and get the same money but have no control over who reus signs for ? This should be an absolute no brainer for dortmund even though it would mean them losing lewandowski and reus in the one transfer window - the alternative is strengthening your rivals even more when they are already way ahead of you.

Of course if a player like reus became available then the list of clubs after him would be significant - 3 months ago barca would have been hot favourites for his signiture but you would have to think that they no longer have the available funds to persue this and you would imagine the same applies to madrid. Bayern should be out of the equation for the reasons listed above and surely no self respecting player would go to serie a now ? That, for me, would leave the english clubs battling for his signiture - the victims might well have the resources but I still dont feel that they have the appeal to attract the really top tier players, and although manure do, you would have to ask if the champs lge or lack thereof would be factor in his decision. That would leave both us and the chavs and I know that we cannot compete with their roubles, but what we can offer is a german based team where many of his team-mates play

I know that this is all pie in the sky talk but this is where the big boys stand up and be counted - maybe signing another striker isnt on le cocks to-do list, but next season this guy (and he is world class imo) will be on the market but we wont have a hope in hell of getting him cos all those clubs listed above will have the financial budget again to blow us out of the water :(

I know it is the star but Marin is quite reliable with his news.

Arsenal ready to snap up Manchester City defender.

ARSENAL are ready to swoop for Manchester City defender Matija Nastasic after he was put up for sale by the club.

The 21-year-old Serbian is surplus to requirements at Eastlands and Gunners boss Arsene Wenger sees Nastasic as a suitable replacement for Thomas Vermaelen, who looks set to leave the Emirates.

@ Essex Chronicle

Well, this the bullshit thread, innit.
