All in all it has to be said that scorelines like that, as entertaining as they are, are really just indicative of two shite teams

Pretty much. A solitary piece of shredded paper over a Jordan-sized crack. But might as well take the victories when & where we can mate.arseofacrow wrote:A splendidly, English game of football. But all that's wrong with modern Arsenal was there for all to see. Very few long term positives.

Absolutely agree - the players may go back to the dressing room smiling and patting each other on the back but by and large they were nothing short of a disgrace and I am thinking specially of kos, djorou, coq and pingpong when I say that. Others may disagree but I thought that both full backs were dire and only marginally better than the two centre backs (how the fcuk can noel hunt score that header off jenkinson ??), I thought that chamakh was awful until he scored and walnut gave us no fcuking help defensively all night long

Tonight for me shows why Arshavin still has a role to play in our season. Against players like that when he wants he can embarrass them every time. Had a bit of that sparkle back, you just knew he was going to beat his man every time. Still has bags of ability and a brilliant brain to go with it. To quote Mike Bassett to Kevin Tonkinson, take it out of your pocket and put it on the pitch. Take him over Gervinho every day of the week, if Ryan Giggs can still get PL medals hobbling round the pitch at 62 years old then Andrei Arshavin can do a job for us. Still can't believe I saw him tracking in our left-back position after 119 minutes!
Just the game for Giroud's hard work and physicality and mightily impressed by Eisfeld. Walcott got his just rewards for hard work and composure too. Pity Martinez, Frimpong, Djourou and Koscielny were all awful.
Conceding 5 goals to them is embarrassing whoever plays but although it probably means nothing I'm still fucking buzzing and it's great to see us tear a team apart like we did from 60 mins on.

Coquelin - Yennaris seems better than Coquelin - Frimpong.
Might have to wonder if there is a rivalry between Coquelin and Frimpong whereas with Yennaris, he knows he is a year behind Coquelin so is more willing to work hard and has less ego issues?
That said I reckon Frimpong is six to eight games away from full fitness and sharpness, physically and mentally.

If yer want something, son, yer gonna have to fight for it. You're an Arsenal man, we fight, fight, fight. We don't stop, we don't give in, we never let others have the glory which we seek for ourselves.

What a fantastic night - the sort that only knockout football can produce (hello UEFA - abandon this sorry six game group stage playing against boring second rate dross now).
Yes amazing, how such a quaint old cup can produce such excitement eh? Two teams slugging it out, shit defending, mistakes aplenty, twelve goals. Lets all turn our noses up and hope that we dig out an enthralling 0-0 at Olympiacos to ensure another whipping in Barcelona or Milan
Big plusses - Eisfeld, outstanding young man. Walcott - hauled us back into it. Chamster - best performance, errr..since he last played up front with a partner. Le Chapman - errr.....best performance up front in his only game with a partner. Jenkinson - to have such a dire 30 mins and recover like that showed that at least one of our players really does have 'a very good spirit'
Big minuses - in the impossible search to find a worse keeper than Fabianski and Mannone we may have stumbled upon the very man, Arshavin - you don't fool me with the 105th minute assist...shocking attitude and a pass completion rate Ramsey would be ashamed of, Koscielny - yes he scored but just like Zigic, Crouch, Davies, Zamora etc put him against a physical striker and he still resembles a rag doll. Frimpong - he needs to recover fitness but that was a truly awful hour of football

My god there are some miserable fuckers posting on here tonight. Of course we were shit in the first half. Of course there should never be 12 goals scored in a match. Of course our defending was shocking.
But FFS stop analysing whether any positives came out of the game & just enjoy one of most amazing comeback ever.......

Once the fans chanted "We Want Our Arsenal Back", we looked like a different side. So any credit should go to them.

Well, for what it's worth............an absolutely mental game of football that had me switching it off and on again like nobodies business.......I had written us off and as I was posting we were equalising
....yes we conceded 5 goals and yes you can pick many holes in this Arsenal squad but for now I'm gonna just enjoy this here Jim Beam and fekin smile at was the maddest game of football I've ever witnessed and it involved my Arsenal......ogt a sad weekend coming up so this was a heaven sent distraction...for me.....
