SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I don't follow.

I don't think we finished 4th instead of 3rd on purpose, frank  :?

Unless you mean why not just finish 5th instead? - but surely the benefit of finishing 4th and not 5th is that it gives you an opportunity to qualify for the lucrative Champions League group stage.

As I said, I don't follow what you mean, mate.

I agree with Frank to the extent our target this season does need to be 3rd
avoid this playoff at all costs.
We've alternated 3/4. Consecutive 4s is a dip.

As you say, we've finished 3rd three times in the last 6 years, so what makes you think our target is 4th and not 3rd?

I think our target has always been CL qualification, but as we're competing with 3 very good teams for a top 3 place, we often get pushed down to 4th.

Fortunately, Sp*rs, Liverpool and co. have been unable to drop us out completely. On the other hand, that is probably the biggest single reason we lack ambition in the transfer market... complacency!

Die Welt claim that Wolfsburg have beaten Arsenal to the signature of Bayern Munich midfielder Luiz Gustavo.

Ha, that will just about sum it all up, an international player chooses to join a mid table club instead of Arsenal!! Fookin' hilarious!!

I'm sure our 'target' is first
but I'll be seeing who we buy before judging what's realistic

Ha ha ha. What a fucking mess Wanker is making of this club. Nobody wants to come here because of him and word has got out from the players already at the club and around the game that there is no point joining if he is in charge. Arsenal FC under Wanker has gone so far backwards that we're in danger of bumping into ourselves under Terry Neil.
