Arsenal are a big name and I would imagine anyone would like to take that job if it became available.

Do something. I think every fan of every club (apart from your rivals) are behind you if you do.
I'd have taken one of the seats if they became available had I not already had one. Does that mean I'm fairweather? Possibly true in some respects now the old joints ache a bit in the damp, given the choice I'd prefer warmer weather for everygame.

Facetiousness aside tho', I disagree with everything you say here and have mentioned before and am happy to do so again; I do not think there is ever justification for dissent at any game as I feel we are there to support whomsoever plays in the red and white including the manager. The more otehrs shout him down the more I will shout for him but that's just the way I feel. Unfortunately for the majority on this forum, it is the way most folk at the stadium and most Arsenal fans feel. I believe

Ridiculous way of looking at your situation. Unless of course you are an ostrich capable of burying your head in the sand and hoping the danger goes away. In which case, well done on learning to type.

Your club is going to the shitter because of the men in charge. Why shouldn't you be able to voice your concerns about it? We can do it in everything like work, the government, the council etc... so why not the football club you love?

I have been consistent with my responses to this point throughout. I do NOT believe the club is 'going to the shitter' and it is not doing so for the same reason you state it is... because of the men in charge. I believe we are 'ok'. I would, of course, like to win things again but am, at the same time, of the opinion that over the next decade or so we will look back and we will have accumulated more trinkets, a significant amount of trinkets.

Chippy, you asked above, what would make me criticise the club: I have done and will still do so. There are things I don't like. My point in this thread (wenger for and against) is about Wenger and my attitude toward him. I have not changed my views in the few weeks or so since I last posted a 'longish' post on this very thread. I commented this time because I remain of the opinion I have voiced before, that support in the stadium should be just that. I have not said I am right in that, but just that is how I feel.

I have also said before that there are folk on here who are clearly passionate about The Arsenal, as am I, and I like to read such folks views. Speak against the flow and I must therefore be wrong... is what one feels is the attitude.

NB123... where you say " I have every right to... etc" I agree wholeheartedly and would defend that right as much as the next man. Likewise that allows me to say, I believe that - within the stadium for a game, I feel that we should support whoever is playing for us/managing us. I have no problem with criticism I just feel that during a game is not the time - doesn't make me right but is what I feel

I know you all don't like him. It was seeing how much of a farce the Arsenal pre-season transfer saga had become yet again that prompted me to come on here. I joined ages ago but just had a nosey. I just see how much of a piss take he is and I feel for you all. It's as though every October and March when you aren't doing great, the board come out and say "We have [insert amount][ to spend in the summer/winter transfer window to improve the squad" and then they just seem to think you forgot about it. So I thought I would just give my two pence worth and hope you get your club back. I reckon you would even prefer a bit of boring George Graham at the minute!!
I have no idea at all about what you mean by the bits I have highlighted in red. Transfer ? Busy?
Dudeface is talking about Chesterfield not Arsenal. His club signed seven players this summer.

Obvious troll is obvious.

Nobody in their right mind would happily see their club fail time and time again whilst knowing there was something that can be done. I support a side who are in a lower league. We have no money. We sell players and don't see the cash as it pays off debts. I get frustrated but I know we don't have another option. This year however we have a few decent free transfers come in and it's exciting. Your situation is different. You are falling behind your main rivals and pretty soon you will fall behind spurs. And something could be done about it! If you can't see that then I don't know which silverware cabinet you are looking in because it's not arsenals. And his 6 year plan failed so what makes you think you will get better in another 6 years when all you do is sell good players and buy inferior ones?

I'm not on here to troll or take the piss. I watch a lot of arsenal games and have done for well over a decade with my mates. You could say I have a soft spot for them. I just can't believe that it keeps being allowed yo happen and people like you are the reason it does.

Sith Lord Venger quoted in this morning's Metro saying (basically); "Yeah we are trying to sign some players, but I'm not worried if we don't. Our team is good enough as it is."

I'm paraphrasing but that is the balls of it.

Fuck me sideways. :banghead: :suicide:

He also said this which supports the above:

"Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says the Gunners will be stronger this season - even if he fails to land Liverpool forward Luis Suarez, 26, or improve his squad."

(Source BBC Sports)

He IS Mentally Unstable and NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE! (That purpose being to manage Arsenal F.C)

Wenger's quotes in full:

"We are still working on improving our squad but we have a base of young players who get a chance here and who started in the Premier League, such as (Wojciech) Szczesny, (Carl) Jenkinson, (Alex) Oxlade-Chamberlain, (Jack) Wilshere, (Aaron) Ramsey, (Theo) Walcott - that is unique, nobody else has done that.

"These players can have a special bond and they are on the way upwards, they are not over the hill.

"They will be better next year and that is why I am confident we will be stronger next season.

"We had a fantastic end to the season because we won eight of our last 10 (league) games.

"We have had a good pre-season and for the first time in recent seasons we have not sold any player (we have wanted to keep)."

What Wenger is blind to, or one the many things he is blind to is if you strengthen a squad it keeps the current bunch on their toes, they are not so complacent if they know that a lapse in their game means being dropped.
It's not a case of 'killing' players, its intelligent management.

^^ This. 100% agreed. 8)

Football should be Darwinian. The fittest survive and thrive. No one owes these overpaid fuckers a huge wage and a comfortable living. Average should not be accepted at the top level. If a player can't raise his game to deal with competition for his position then fuck him, we now know his true level, drop him. This mollycoddling approach by Arsene has developed a spineless squad that doesn't hunger and fight for trophies, but rather accepts defeat because fuck it they get paid anyway and keep their spot in the team. It has developed a team of players that walk off the pitch laughing and joking with the oppo players that have just handed them the footballing equivelant of a good old ass-fucking in the prison showers. :x

I refuse point blank to put money in the pockets of people who do not represent the things I believe in. Why does Wenger assume that players will improve just by virtue of being one year older? It didn’t work like that with Senderos did it? Or Eboue, Vela, Clichy, Bendtner etc. Being a year older is no guarantee of anything.

One of the worst things about Wenger is that he has taken away a lot of the joy winning games should bring. Its almost like victories these days have a negative side to them because they just mean nothing will change. Despite some woeful performances, that run of results towards the end of last season was always going to allow Wenger to delude himself into believing we had turned a corner and sure enough he is now using the fact that we had ‘’a fantastic end to the season’’ as a reason why he doesn't necessarily need new signings. Just how many false dawns have there been in the last 5 years?

Wenger’s judgement and belief in his players simply cannot be trusted. Two years running he was quoted as saying his team was ‘’a different animal’’ to the previous year and both times it proved to be exactly the same team with exactly the same flaws.

April 2009 (prior to the CL semi against Man United) :

‘’I think this team is a different animal to last year, mentally, especially.'

February 2010 (In his programme notes for the visit of Man United - reflecting on the way Arsenal were swept aside in that CL semi the previous year) :

‘’ We are not the same team now, we are a different animal because we have improved.'

Once again Arsenal were swept aside and lost 3-1

recently we got some excellent new sponsorship deals - the job of our (extremely well payed) club executives
the figures of these were in the public domain.
Cash held in reserve last year (in case of missing CL) was in our accounts.
The '£70M warchest' was not directly released by the club - but it was impossible to dispute.
Our new higher income streams (TV/shirt maker/sponsor) meant we could afford to pay higher wages - essentially info in the public domain. Only question was would we stick to the historic wage structure - Gazidis confirmed we would not when answering Rooney questions.
Lots on here have become upset by that: keep your mouth shut, everyone will cost more now etc etc.
My opinion was the numbers were all out there anyway. Any knowledgable negotiator would know Arsenal have cash in the bank, the ability to pay higher wages.

Now Wenger comes out with - we don't need to buy, type statements.
He doesn't want to be held to ransom. An honourable (arguably selfless) attitude that if followed by 'Arry the twitcher would have resulted in several less broke clubs.

If Wenger came out and said we will def buy, then his hand gets forced. The statements are perfectly natural - they emphasise his confidence in the squad and allow him to refuse (what he sees as) over priced players.

Also Steve I's views are those of the majority of Arsenal fans.
Was going to say vast majority - I think the numbers are contracting.
His views are nonetheless very mainstream, bit bizarre to claim he doesn't really hold them...

nobody enjoyed the end of last season. Least of all the manager - was some of the most stressful skin of the teeth, just about football I've ever seen - and I was bought up on George Graham and Don Howe!
He of course wants a lot more than that from this season. Was not a Wengerball recovery, he will want the attacking side of our game transformed...

City have improved their squad, Maureen could turn the worst clogging Chelsea from yesteryear team into contenders and Utd should comfortably get third, even without whisky nose.

The fucking Y's will be stronger than us even if they flog Clyde for crazy money, Paulinho & Soldado are very astute acquisitions, plus you can bet they'll invest again should Bale go to swing on a tyre in Madrid.

The way I see it, we are already accepting that 4th is our target and unless the sqaud is heavily bolstered, I can't see that happening this season.

I konw it gets said all the time but we are palpably being left behind. If we don't reinforce by the end of the window I will petition for Wenger to be sectioned.
