As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
We're in the same boat as United and Chelsea apparently (even though Chelsea have actually spent £31.5m so far to top up a squad of the likes of Hazard, Mata, Ramires, Cole, Oscar, Luiz, Cech, etc)
In any case, when was the last time we rivaled United in the league? - I'm more concerned with what Sp*rs are doing rather than what United (last seasons runaway champions) aren't!
Would like to believe it. Unfortunately Professor Crackpot has proven himself to be a serial liar time and time again.
If there is one thing i hate as much as Wenger, its that shit website. If we lose 3-0, the site talks about us being unlucky The Arsenal has reached North Korea levels of propaganda.

Apart from Spurs they're all the nouveau rich - goes to show we just don't have the front men to do business when we can't compete for talent with the mob we leave in our dust. Just for reference, our local side has a manager even less liked than Wenger for almost the identical reasons and today we signed a Dutch CB that held Tevez et al at bay at the World Cup. If the Newcastle Jets can do business then fark me Wenger!!!!!
We really needed to start the season with a couple of big matches.
Now! The other thing - yes we make money now BUT we aren't the international brand of Liverpool so if we don't make top 4 soon then our value will drop like a rock and whilst that doesn't concern me it should concern the smug capitalists running the joint enough to think its time to invest.
Might be rambling, might have must win game to play tomorrow night and might possibly have had too many whiskys both generally and also pre game.
liverpool are not as big an international brand as us. they may be amongst older fans (not the sort to spend money on kit) and in europe and south america, but in asia, n america and africa, arsenal are a far bigger 'brand' (despite our crappy merchandising figures) as these regions mostly only got into english football a few years after the infancy of the PL, pretty much when we were coming good and in the subsequent glory years.
liverpool can no longer rely on what they did in the 80's to retain the value of the club.
He's comparing to United and Chelsea who have won trophies last season? This further proves that this guy is out of his mind and will find any excuse he can even if it's sound ridiculous to defend himself. We are the only club in the world to have a manager who is nuts
Kicker saying that Wolfsburg is paying 20 Million Euros for Gustavo to Bayern, something Arsenal was not willing to pay.
WTF is going on? how stupid can one be? 20 Million Euros is a bargin for these kind of defensiv midfield player, I honestly can't belive it !
Cheers,
Thomas
Welcome to the Crazy World of Arsene Brown, we don't operate in anything approaching a normal manner.
Arsène Wenger says Arsenal will be active in the transfer market before the deadline passes on September 2.
Yaya Sanogo joined the Club last month but as yet there have been no further additions while a number of players have left - including Gervinho, Andrey Arshavin and Marouane Chamakh.
Wenger is confident he will add to his squad in the coming weeks.
"We are active," he told Arsenal Player. "We are in a situation like Manchester United, like Chelsea, where everybody expects signings and at the moment not a lot has happened.
"There are 18 days to go, so that is a long time in the transfer market and we will be active.
"I cannot certify what the number [of players coming in will be] but we will be active until the end, that is for sure."
Losing out on Gustavo is more annoying than any of our recruiting transfer negligence this summer. A quality player under £20m in a position we are very weak in and we decided to haggle? If this is true then it shows more than anything how this manager needs to be hounded and his legacy ridiculed.
Some people are talking about his performance over recent years compared to nett spend. Please always tell these muppets they are talking bollocks. Once they have factored in wages they will realise that our point to £ tally is as expected. No miracles by Wenger, just an average return on the considerable monies he has been given.

18 days to go, so considering it usually takes a month for us to conclude a deal, i wouldnt expect any imminent arrivals

whilst I respect your view I categorically disagree and by a substantial margin - 90,000 people singing you'll never walk alone on the other side of the planet at the MCG!!! We can't get close to that.

18 more days to look at shit players from france who will add super quality to our squad. We could of had cesar higuain and gustavo for £60 million but instead were going to get another park or gervino. The sooner this transfer window closes the better because after that wenger cannot make any excuses. Our first 8 games this season if you look at the fixture last year we won them all something tells me it will be different this time around.

To be fair, most were just meeting up with their long lost relatives!!
Well so far this summer OGL has got rid of most of the deadwood players he bought & gave silly contracts to in the first place.
For incomings usual story low ball bids sadly you pay the market rates or end up with a situation we had to endure 2011 panic buys.Europe is skint especially Spain so many better players than we have in our squad we are baring the sugar daddy clubs in the best position of pretty much any club in Europe.
Structure, facilities, wages(should be able to pay 150k+),location so why is it not happening?
All roads lead to OGL the only signing I fear is his renewal come autumn. The bloke who said 'if you gave me £100m to spend I would give it back' a chairmans wet dream still this farce runs & runs...........
