Deadline day Arshavin saga

what depresses me more than anything is that the spuds can get 2 quality strikers in and it only took a couple of days, actually it seems that the robbie keane deal was done in a day (and he is quality, as good as arshavin if not better) and yet this arshavin deal takes a month, we are a joke and all our rival supporters are right what they say, we are going to be a lucky to get in the top 6 in the next couple of seasons. i followed arsenal when they were crap for 15 or more seasons and i still loved them but they didn't have a ONE HUNDRED MILLION POUNDS A YEAR wage bill so expectations were not as high.
Robbie Keane is nowhere near the quality of Arshavin.
It's also more difficult to deal with a club that's not only holding out for every last penny, but is also leaking everything that suits them to the press on a constant basis, that lies about things and that has no intention of doing anything quickly.
Liverpool are desperate for money and wanted to get rid of Keane, it's a different situation completely.

I haven't read all the posts on here but i reckon a lot are probs negative. If we do finally sign arshavin tomorrow then great. If we dont then by all means criticize. Even if it did take weeks to get the player....we still seem to be finalising the deal. That is a good thing, who cares if it took long we still are getting a very highly rated player. Lets hope he can make an immediate impression when we visit shit hart lane on sunday.
Up the Gunners!

robbie keane is one of the best link strikers in the pl without a doubt, liverpool just dont play that style, they are a one forward team with excellent sujpoorting midfielders, how can you say arshavin is better, no one has seen him play in the pl, rebrov anyone?
Arshavin had a half decent european cup but when he came up against a class side like spain he was no where to be seen

What so you would rather stick with the shit we have like Song, Eboue, Denilson and Diaby rather than buy a player who will greatly improve our team, albeit we need strengthening in other areasLeftfootlegendGooner wrote:IF he is that highly rate why did barcelona baulk at his asking price and why has NOT ONE other top club come in for him.
This is a desperate deal to try and allay the unrest of the fan base, very similar to the reyes deal.

Well for a start they were quoted around 25M, and in case you hadn't noticed most clubs outside of the Premiership aren't exactly flush!LeftfootlegendGooner wrote:IF he is that highly rate why did barcelona baulk at his asking price and why has NOT ONE other top club come in for him.

Sorry mate but I cannot for the life of me think of a single piece of evidence that suggests that this was a panic buy

Not sure where you're going either with attempts to equate this with the Reyes deal??? IMO that's not only way off but completely crazy

Until the day I die I will always argue that reyes could and would of become a star for us but for one reason......henry
The man couldnt stand the thought of anybody else stealing his limelight and made his life such hell that he eventually fcuked off back to spain. I am not ignoring the fact that he also had personal issues but imo they could have been overcome with the support of a close knit squad

I'm inclined to agree to a certain extent. But I think Reyes refused to/was unable to adapt due to his lack of intellect, just as much as Henry didn't like him. The guy still didn't speak a word of English when he left which, to me, is indicative of a guy who didn't want to be in England full-stop.
