That game reminded me of Arsenal vs Hull last season (away), except Spain didn't get a happy ending :lol:

Not sure if this is the right thread or not, but there's one rather alarming quote in the Cesc interview on here;

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/footbal ... s/match_16

"At Arsenal, we don't look at other teams, how they play. We just focus on ourselves" :? No wonder we're always accused of having no plan b.

Amazing isn't it! :? manager of one of the top teams in the world and paid £millions a year, and yet he just sends his team out game after game with little thought of the opposition - no wonder we luck so embarassingly tactically naive! :oops: :oops:

And after seeing the way we defend and the tactics (or lack of) that we employ, I'd imagine Cesc's comments are bang on and not simply misunderstood.

They can't be misunderstood when Arsene himself has said on a few occasions that he wants his team to focus on what they are going to do rather than what the opponent will do.
"If we produce the best performance, then we can we can beat any side in the world," Wenger said.

"What you want from your team is not to worry too much about the strengths of Barcelona, but more focus on our strengths and our qualities.

"We must be brave, go for it and then we have every chance."

................................... "We will try to play the way we are used to - you cannot change that from one match to the next, but we do want to be efficient with our game."

Ha what a result for the Swiss!! Clearly Senderos was the inspiration there, the WC needed a result like that. Spain pay the price for passing too much with no end product.

We'll never win anything again under Wenger.

I think the Barca at the Grove game surely must have made it clear to people that Wenger really does think he can just send his team out to play with no special instructions..
When you see his face during the first half of that game he genuinely was shocked at how much better than us they were, and he really did think we could just go out and out football them...The sad thing is he, after being exposed to reality in that game has probably since retreated into his own little delusional world surrounded by sycophants and has erased the reality from his mind as he did after the last few seasons games v Chelski and United, which is why he continues to make the same mistakes every year...

As for the Spain game, i don't think we can read too much in to it, it's one of those games, we have had many of them.
Had Spain got one early on it could just as easy have turned out 4 or 5, the class gulf was plain to see.
Saying that i was a bit disappointed at the line up, why on earth would their manager play two holding midfielders against a team so inferior to them. The sad thing is Busquets is far more effective in a more probing role, instead he was like a loose part sitting deep doing very little, because him and Alonso where trying to do the job of one.
When the subs were made i wasn't surprised they brought the two wide men on because they needed some more sharpness and pace to pierce that back line, but why he didn't give Cesc a run out after he had tried that is a mystery..
