I think that club needs a new vision - as Wenger provided when he arrived - to capatilise on the good things that are in place (as Wenger expertly did).
That's exactly it for me.
I've lost most of my enthusiasm that a fresh, dynamic new approach can reinvigorate. We stagnated years ago (or shown "outstanding consistency" as Wenger would spin it

) and the last few seasons have been so painfully predictable and lacking in ambition that the name Groundhog FC is not just tongue in cheek, but frighteningly accurate.
I dare say we all know the outcome to this upcoming season before it even begins. The pattern appears ingrained in this club now: talk up our spending power, then disappoint in the transfer market... talk up our title chances, then limply bow out of the race early on... talk up our CL chances, then get knocked out to the first top side we play.... talk up our chances in the domestic cups, then sacrifice them for our pursuit of a place in the top 4....
and so the cycle continues, season after season after season...
Still, Ivan was happy to talk about a new contract for Wenger, so it looks like he's here to stay. So lets just hope this new money that the club has been banging on about does the job of breathing new life into Wenger, the team and the fans. I guess we'll know more on September 2nd.
