Re: I CANT HANDLE ANOTHER YEAR OF WENGERS LIES

Post by augie »

Gave up my season tickets this season as you all know, but I am still assured of getting tickets to almost every game I choose but I cant really be bothered to go at the mo  As well as the cost and effort it takes for me to make a game, I also have a 3 hour round trip just to get to and from the airport on this side and getting on the road for 5am on a Saturday morning is an absolute pain in the bollox. I know that many will slate me for this but if there was gonna be a big anti wenger demo in the morning then I would drop everything to be there because then I would at least feel that I would be making my voice heard regardless of whether it makes a difference or not.

It's the acceptance of being losers that grinds me down - if wenger went out and bought quality for those key positions (DM, striker,gk and maybe centre back) and we still ended up scrapping 4th then I could at least accept the fact that we are aiming higher but nowadays we don't look or aim any higher than 4th and our whole structure is based around that. The arrogance of wenger is a disgrace and when I hear akb's and media c.unts talk about the integrity of the man I want to blow my own head off  This "I know better than everyone" attitude is disrespectful and the fact that the media c.unts are as afraid of saying otherwise as they were of crossing ferguscum says a lot about their integrity and courage

That's exactly it for me.

I've lost most of my enthusiasm that a fresh, dynamic new approach can reinvigorate. We stagnated years ago (or shown "outstanding consistency" as Wenger would spin it  ) and the last few seasons have been so painfully predictable and lacking in ambition that the name Groundhog FC is not just tongue in cheek, but frighteningly accurate.

I dare say we all know the outcome to this upcoming season before it even begins. The pattern appears ingrained in this club now: talk up our spending power, then disappoint in the transfer market... talk up our title chances, then limply bow out of the race early on... talk up our CL chances, then get knocked out to the first top side we play.... talk up our chances in the domestic cups, then sacrifice them for our pursuit of a place in the top 4....

and so the cycle continues, season after season after season... :(

Still, Ivan was happy to talk about a new contract for Wenger, so it looks like he's here to stay. So lets just hope this new money that the club has been banging on about does the job of breathing new life into Wenger, the team and the fans. I guess we'll know more on September 2nd. :?

I read your bigger post and agree with most of what you said but 4 weeks left and 12 gone surely the club would be a better place if and when any new players come in it should have been for pre season to get to know the older players, tactics worked on etc etc .

trolly dash expected once more in the last week getting players he either didn't want or doesn't need :?
Yep - glad we're making inroads into the pile of useless greedy bastards we have at the club but at the end of the day it's not going to make our team any stronger at all.

We're getting to the point where clubs are going to worry about the replacements for key players so they're going to be even more reluctant to sell and the asking prices will be even higher. With nobody other than Suarez on the horizon (which promises to rumble on) any signings we do make won't get any pre-season at all with us. Although at least that'll give some people an excuse for their blind optimism next year as they'll have "gelled" by then

Fuck me! the main reason I want wenger to go is I literally can't be arsed to read any more rants on here!

This forum is nearly as boring and predictable as the team.

Not saying you're wrong or anything, just fed up with it!

I'm going to the tit thread :barscarf:

I dont believe that we wont sign anyone. It would just not maker sense but I cant see Liverpool selling Suarez to us. Maybe we have some secret deals going through.
It is clear from yesterdays game that the team needs about 3 new exceptional players and this is the only window that we could actually pay out big bucks.
I live in hope until the window ends but if he fails to add to the team then he has cut his own throat because this is his last chance.
What a load of tosh 'one thing that Wenger has got right' so he should be patted on the back for getting rid of the deadwood that he's created by stockpiling shit players on long lucrative contracts? How about the shit like Park and Santos who had their contracts paid up and ripped up? Yes let's all hail Wenger!!!
every lon term manager has a squad they have created
there will be successes and failures - I agree with superGG, glad to see some players given up on
Well, there's a surprise...  But we have more than our share as a club and there's only one 'man' to blame for that.... look at the shit that has just been jetisoned and see how many games they actually played for 'squad players' It's amazing that you're blinded so much with your love for Wenger that you can easily overlook this!

The problem is though JD, the mind games/PR/lies etc. are all part of the reason we are not fighting for the title - because its all part of the lowering expectations thing that Wenger and the club do to keep the wolves from the door. Make it look like we cannot be expected to compete, remind us how we ''out perform our spend'' and all that shite to try and convince us we're successful! As long as any real dissent is quelled, the status quo remains but as a consequence of this the team doesn't progress. So the mind games are not harmless, they are detrimental.

A typical quote of Wenger's is the ''patience is a sign of intelligence'' one. This is done to deliberately make people hold back in fear of looking like they lack intelligence. Wenger is brilliant at manipulating many of our fans and most of the media. Its a pity he's not as good at being a football manager as he is at that.

P.S. Agree totally with the sentiments of the opening post. Well said REB

Yep, seconded here too, already cancelled my membership as I can't justify handing any money over to this regime. Esp since I'm under a self-imposed boycott of games while Wenger remains.

I find it increasingly difficult to identify with what we've become as a club now. I cried like a bitch after Nayim (*word censored*) in '95 and spent days at the bottom of a bottle after Copenhagen '00 but have now become so despondent with us since '08 I just find myself going "meh" as such luminaries as Hull & West Brom stick their 3rd goal past us.

Wenger, though, seems to have earned infinite credit from his early-years success and will probably get his new contract. He could, in all probability, tell the fans to literally go fuck themselves and hardly anyone would bat an eyelid anymore.

For me it isn't the amount of shite players we have accumulated as much as it is the huge contracts they have been awarded - we have priced medium sized clubs out of buying them cos they would not be able to afford a decent transfer fee and meet the players wage demands, and the only clubs that can afford to buy the players know that they aint good enough to play for a club of their stature anyway

I dislike Wenger and have no respect for him anymore. His talk in Japan about motivation and the story about losing his way while jogging shows how delusional he is. In footballing terms, he catches a taxi everytime he is unable to close a deal and convince existing players to stay or quality players to join. He catches a taxi everytime he complains about the money in football but earns over £7 million a year. The man is riding an Arsenal taxi he last paid for in 2004 when he lost his way while out collecting trophies.

Supporting a football club, like Arsenal, by giving them your cash, is a sign of mental illness so weldone. I stopped giving them my cash in 2006. The last shirt I had was the farewell shirt. Since then I am proud to say Arsenal.ltd hasn't had a penny of my money.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who opted not to renew their membership, reassuring to know.

I also turn off AW's face everytime it appears on screen. Several years ago, I was able to separate the 'good' Wenger from the 'bad' Wenger when watching end-of-season DVDs from the glory days, but that's definitely not the case anymore.
