Who said he shouldn't?! :?
Well DB10 aluded to it above... I can't see anything wrong with what the poster said... I'll re-read again... :? :?
Sorry, I had a quick scroll but couldn't find much about Atwood on the thread, so thought I'd be a lazy fucker and ask

Having looked back, DB10 asks for this not to descend into ABUSE... so you're agreeing with DB10 when you say "If it's not abusive but criticisim I can't see what the problem really is..!!!" :proudtosay:  - I don't think DB10 was saying he shouldn't be criticised... doesn't sounds like something DB10 would say either tbh. 8)

Yeah, I suppose so.... I'm sure Tony Attwood and John Cross are the same person!

Wanger doesn't know his arse from his elbow, or a striker from a goalkeeper, that much is obvious!! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Wanger certainly regrets some things......like being a fukcing proper football manager!!! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

2008 - Arsenal boss Wenger said: "When he moved to Real Madrid, it was a regret. Yes, it was my biggest regret. He was in the French team then he moved to Madrid, Thierry Henry moved here and Thierry played in the European Championships and Nicolas did not play.

2008 - Arsene Wenger: 'I wish I had signed Cristiano Ronaldo for Arsenal'
Arsene Wenger has had few regrets during his time at Arsenal but he admitted that he wished he had been as persuasive to Cristiano Ronaldo as he had been to the Manchester United winger's mother. (Telegraph)

Dec 2012 - Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has admitted he will always regret not realising the potential of his team after selling key players. The Gunners have not won any silverware since 2005 and Wenger's long-term plan to construct a team that could challenge on all fronts was shattered by the sales of Samir Nasri, Cesc Fabregas, Robin van Persie and Alex Song.
Speaking in the January edition of Four Four Two magazine - Wenger admits there will forever be a sense of what might have been.

May 2013 - Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has spoke of his regret at not signing David Beckham following news of the players retirement yesterday, The Express reports.
The 38-year-old former England captain finally hung up his boots yesterday after a successful career that saw him turn out for Manchester United, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan and finally PSG.
But the evergreen Arsenal boss has admitted that he regrets never signing Goldenballs when he had the chance.
“Yes I was (interested in signing him), but it was at the period where we could not afford to pay him,” Wenger said.

June 2013 - Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger has revealed his regret at missing out on Gareth Bale as a youngster. (Daily Mail)

August 2013 - Arsène Wenger regrets lack of transfer opportunities (The Times)

We've had some decent strikers since Wenger arrived, including the greatest in our history in Henry and the current golden boot winner, RVP.

Even Anelka and Adebayor did ok at Arsenal.

I don't think centre forward has been his blind spot over the years.

I think it's fair to say it's been a blind spot for a few years TBH

Since Wenger arrived, last season was the first time we didn't have a first choice striker I wasn't happy with.

1997-1998 - Wright
1998-1999 - Anelka
1999-2007 - Henry
2007-2009 - RVP & Adebayor
2009-2012 - RVP
2012-2013 - Giroud

(sorry if those dates are slightly wrong)

That's not a bad run really. And now it looks like Wenger is aware Giroud needs improving on, and we're being linked with a host of new strikers.

Okay, our reserve strikers have always been a little suspect (Wreh, Jeffers, Chamakh, etc.) but our first choice strikers have been up there with the best in our history.

we don't need a striker, after todays display by walnut and giroud and being backed up by the flair of ramsey we will win the league by at least 20 points :barscarf:

Please do not lump Wreh in with duds like Jeffers and the She Male. He played a huge part in the 98 double, the other 2 were toilet.

He did play an important part, with a few key goals (winner in the FA Cup semi springs to mind), but he wasn't a good player, and I can guarantee if he was signed this summer everyone would be bitching and moaning about it.

wiltord was also very useful.Freddie played striker too some weeks. boa morte did a job. Kanu was an inspired signing at the time.

Dennis also led the line before Anelka arrived, before dropping deeper which is when we really started to be a threat from all areas of the pitch.

as much as Wenger drives me nuts, i still think that Pod and Giroud are good buys. Wenger just doesn't know how to use them and the team preparation is piss poor to non existent.

He also signed Overmars and Pires - two of the best wingers in the world, and who'd heard of Pires after only two years at the Marsellais ?

he used to have quite the eye for attacking talent before he tried to do it on the cheap.

I'm not sure if that's a joke or not? :rubchin:  but I think it probably was

I'd heard of Pires before he joined Marseille and so had most of my mates at school. In fact, I think the season before he joined Marseille he played against Newcastle for Metz and looked superb! he was also a French international, and of course played in the final of Euro 2000; getting a winners medal.

All that before Wenger came along with his magic hat and plucked him from obscurity

we paid quite a fee for him for us at the time - with the proceeds from the Petit/overmars sale i think.

i was lucky enough to be at the France Denmark game in Bruge where he and Zidane destroyed Denmark. we used to be able to get the very cream of Europe in those days... :(

sold Merse for £6M
bought Overmars for £5M
sold Overmars for £20M odd
bought Pires
constant improvement and profit.
Haven't been able to replicate that level of transfer market success for some time.
