I saw that but I think you should be a bit more open minded about players if that's really your opinion. Some players use that type of move to put themselves in the shop window in bigger leagues.augie wrote: Btw Arsenal target biglia from anderlecht is close to finalise a loan move to Norwich - that is his level and it horrified me that we were linked to this guy in the first place![]()

And that's the exact problem we face......players use Arsenal to put themselves in the shop window to move to a big club

How annoying. We know that Arsenal were in for him, but now that he is going to Liverpool, suddenly Wenger starts stomping his feet. 'Oh - he's going to Liverpool? Well, we didn't want him anyway!!!'

Or, you could look at it this way.
Liverpool trumped Arsenal in Nuri Sahin negotiations with £7.2m package
The Anfield club stole a march on their north London counterparts by offering far more lucrative terms in their bid to bring the Real Madrid playmaker to Merseyside
The Turkey international, who is set to undergo a medical at Melwood this weekend, looked certain to be headed for north London earlier this week after Arsenal offered a £2m fee and a commitment to pay the majority of the 23-year-old’s £2.2m-a-year salary.
That looked to have been enough to entice Sahin to the Emirates Stadium, with the playmaker keen to play under manager Arsene Wenger and in the Champions League.
But Liverpool, who had dropped out of the race to sign the midfielder last weekend, re-entered negotiations with an offer of a £5m loan fee - and their willingness to cover the whole of the player’s salary swung negotiations their way, according to reports in Spain.

Re: McDowell's "Lies, damn lies, and rumours thread."
Everton sign Niang for fraction of Arsenal bid.
Linked with Arsenal over the summer and subject to a bid from the Gunners, 17 year old striking starlet M’Baye Niang looks like he will be joining Everton as the club agreed a £2m fee with Caen and all that is left is to agree personal terms with the player.
It had been thought that the player preferred a move to AC Milan after both Arsenal and Milan submitted bids however the move to Everton has come as something of a surprise.
If reports are to be believed, Arsenal tabled a deal worth up to £6m so it seems strange that the player is likely to leave Caen for £2m but the report in the Daily Mail said that the problem with Arsenal’s bid was the small amount offered up front.

I said as much about Niang, lots of bollox in the papers about this big club and that big club, one of the hottest propects in Europe blah blah blah.....and the only club to make a concrete offer are Everton for a massive 2m. It's the same with M'Vila, supposed to be so good but not one 'big' club in Europe has been in for him even though it's general knowledge that he's available this summer.
No more signings for Arsenal as most people thought.....this year Wenger's looking for that 'special player', last year it was super quality.....and look where that got us!! Sell big, buy small, the way to ruin a club.

Indeed. 'Special player' usually means no more signings. I think that in the past whenever he has said it, it has resulted in nothing. So in other words a Messi that is available for a fiver.

To be fair the same thing is happening with Billy big bollix bendtner who was supposedly being chased by all of europe's top clubs and just the other day celta Vigo were favourites to sign him

Re: McDowell's "Lies, damn lies, and rumours thread."
That is a lot of money to pay for a loan of a player that Madrid have no intention of selling on to you as Alonso's off next year.Top Londoner wrote:Or, you could look at it this way.

Personally can't understand the clamour for him. The player we really need is kicking his heels in Shitty of mancs stadium and apparently is available for 8 million pounds.....
DeJong sitting behind our front 5 and their would be no more exposed back 4.
DeJong gets vertigo when he crosses the half way line. A proper DM who knows how to kick fancy dans flying. Might even sort out Walnutt for us.
