SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

bench looks weak, lets hope Ox can smash it 2nd season
I wouldn't describe missing one (key) player from our best first XI as "no fit players"
Need to add Sagna to the injured list being reported he is out as well who will cover in CD when Mert or Kos get sent off or injured and why the fuck did he send Migel on loan ? madness

Add to that cazorla has not played much in pre season and played in south america on wednesday night, Jack does not look match fit. Rosicky is an injury waiting to happen and there is no cover in any other position. Who is that down to 1 man and 1 man only Wenger.

Flamster for a start...

Gustavo was exactly what we eed in the mid-field: Strong in the tackle, very good at breaking up the opposition play, has a very good footballing brain - so doesn't waste the ball when he gets it...has pace and can pick a pass...

Mind you HAD he signed for us wenker would have plaed him on the wing with th other 9 outfield players.

I absolutely agree we need a deeper squad because we may get injuries
there's no point in pretending they have already happened (just 1 missing from first XI)
or that the players we've shipped out were any use

"Ideally you would want to be quicker, but to finalise transfer you need agreement of three parties. You could see that our main rivals, it is not easy. You look at us, Chelsea and Manchester United - It's difficult to find quality players to strengthen the team and squad because there is a shortage of top players who are available.

"It's impossible to give you a number. The first request is quality to play for Arsenal Football Club. After the number comes in, yes we would like two or three players, if possible more. But we won't compromise on the quality of the players."
Taken from Wenger's press conference just now. His implication that there have been no attainable players who are good enough to play for AFC is just completely ludicrous. Chelsea and United will probably both be a bit disappointed but the former will benefit from Schurrle and the returns of Lukaku and most importantly Mourinho (as well as signing that talented Dutch kid and two other players for depth) and United cantered to the title last year so it's hardly like their needs were as desperate as ours - and they're both considerably stronger squads so genuinely fewer players available to improve them.

How can he possibly compare our present team & situation with the chavs & manure?

Has anyone else oticed on all the Large Sky Prem and BT Sport Hoardings advertising the up and coming Prem Season...all the images (bar One) tey use have players from manure, chavski,$hitty, the scum and the victims..but O Arsenal players...shows how low thought of we have become under this glorious leadership...we obviously no longer have the pulling power via the Ads that we once had.... :banghead:

Not at all. I looked back to see what "stupid statement" sid was referring too, and it was this...

highburyJD - "Bench is worryingly weak but personally I'm delighted at the players we sold and think we got good prices"

I'm amazed that anyone can think that is a stupid statement - most of all someone like sid who has been criticising Chamakh, Squillaci, Gervinho, etc. for as long as I can remember, so I'd have put money on him agreeing with JD here. :?

For the record, I 100% agree with JD here (as do most of us, surely?). I'm DELIGHTED to see the back of Chamakh, Santos, Denilson, Arshavin, Gervinho, Eastmond, Mannone, etc. - bloody delighted. We're finally getting rid of the deadwood, and that's fantastic.

But as JD said, the bench looks worryingly weak at the moment.... again, I agree with that comment as well. It does look weak.

I fail to see anything controversial or stupid in the above post. Just common sense.

Obviously we need new players, but there's nothing in JD's post to suggest otherwise.
