Yes to goalscorer
Yes to box to box tackling midfielder
Yes to left back
Not worried too much about right back; Jenkinson is not great buy Yennaris and Coquelin are decent enough.
At left back we have injury prone Gibbs and nothing else; because I think Santos can tackle but is a horrendous defender positionally, and our centre backs seem unconfident at left back.

We not after tiote but have cabaye in our sights apparently -

Personally I believe that is exactly the type of move that wenger would make and it would confirm to me that those glasses are still not strong enough as he seems unable to diagnose what is wrong with this team
Cabaye is not a DM in the strictest terms (at least not a tough tackling one) and is more of an interceptor/link midfielder type of player and for me we already have arteta who can do that job well as he showed yesterday when I thought that he was outstanding
If we going after a DM then it needs to be a proper DM - not one that is box to box but one that will hold his position properly, will win the tackles and will give simple passes to the ball players like cazorla, arteta and the ox and let them do the creating. For me we have enough of the "jack of all trades and master of none" type players and now we need a specialist player that can do his job at a very high level

We could be sitting this time next week saying 'that Sahin had a great game, we should have got him!'
Or Wenger could dip into his transfer box of chocolates and tempt and tease us with a masterstroke of his genius in the market.
Take your pick

You are preaching to the converted mate cos de Jong has been my preference for a long long time - I like my DM's to be able and willing to put in a few bone crunching tackles when the need arises and in a team of small technical players like ours, that type of player is worth their weight in gold

LOL at anyone who thinks Wenger will spend more than 5 or 6m on any player now....not after he's balanced the books! Prepare for an unknown, cheap, French/African!

Looks like Arsehole will need to get his finger out.

If wenger had any interest in m'vila then a scum bid will end that interest - history has shown that when faced a battle with other clubs to sign a player wenger invariably steps out of the race unless it is for an unproven kid cos he knows that the fact that we pay for more in wages to these kids will ensure their signatures almost every single time

To be honest I think we dropped our interest in M'Vila long ago.
Wenger obviously found something he didn't like, or doesn't feel the cost is right.
Time will tell on that one. I, like many, were clamoring for the signature of Felipe Melo a year or two back to fill the same spot on the field, but Melo ended up being a huge bust. This all feels really familiar.
