Reports that RVP has agreed to sign for City £225k a week. Clubs still need to agree a transfer fee

arsenal action via twitter

RVP contract of £225k per week with #MCFC was agreed in March. The fee to #AFC is the only part of deal outstanding

Would be sick if that is the case :evil: Whatever about Wenger selling Clichy and Nasri to Citeh , selling our Captain , talisman , top scorer etc to one of our main rivals is so f'ing self harming and destructive. Will take a lot more buttering up for us with just Giroud and Podolski. Also very surprised if the feedback coming out of Camo RVp is to be true i.e only one English club for him, family happy etc. Needless to say, if he has to leave, let it be via Manchester.

Coming straight from the same bloke who said, earlier on this year;
Harry Redknapp will complete the season as #THFC manager and then assume the role of #Eng manager in May and for Euro 2012.

o coincidence that the same gullible posters who believed Cesc and Nasri would stay are the same ones who think RVP will stay. Wake ffs and join the real world, Arsenal are a "selling club"
The signing of Girioud should be the last proof for even the most optimistic of fan that RVP will be sold.
Why be so dismissive of a person's opinion? You are much in the know as anyone else. All cases are different. Did I think Cesc would leave? Yes. Did I think Nasri? I was unsure but yes. Do I think RVP will go? No. The Girous signing has no impact on RVP seeing as Wenger stated he was in the market for other strikers towards the back end of the season.

I would agree with you re the need for wenger to be in the market for strikers whether rvp stayed or not but my concern is that he is not buying back up strikers but buying starters and that leads to obvious concerns about rvp's future even if you had believed that he was going to stay (which I didnt). Will giroud accepting sitting on the bench if rvp stays especially if rvp signs an extended contract ? Would it be acceptable to you as a fan to allow rvp to stay and run down his contract allowing him to walk away for free next summer especially now that we bought giroud ? As good as it is that we are buying players that are not kids, it also raises as many questions as answers

I agree. I would prefer to have those questions to ponder than the questions we had a couple of months back.

Surely someone like Giroud will want to prove himself. My biggest criticism of Chamakah was he never pushed RVP for a place, he just accepted the bench. We need competition, and it should be a good sign that Wenger is signing 'quality' rather than simple back up.

Make of this what you will -

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... shton.html

The thing that stands out for me is the suggestion that wenger is ignoring his scouts when it comes to player recruitments and also that there are factions developing within the club. Of course the fact that many of us have stated such opinions in the past doesnt make it true either but it does seem to be a generally accepted fact by every Gooner that wenger has been allowed way too much power in the club and there is no sign of that changing. I also believe that the fact that the players have lost confidence in wenger has been borne out by the fact that so many of his best players are now leaving the club at the first chance they get :(
