Topgoon, you'll find that many of the players have actually won things before they came here. Per has won the German Cup, Vermaelen won everything in Holland, Sagna won the French Cup, Flappy won the league in Poland, Arteta won everything in Scotland, Kallstrom won everything in France, Cazorla won the lot with Spain, Podolski won everything in Germany.

It's only when they join us that they get the Wenger trophyless curse.

Fcuk me you don't half twist words  I said, and I absolutely stand by my words, that we should be embarrassed at going OTT at being unable to beat a championship team in 120 minutes  That it was a cup semi doesn't mask the fact that we should never have needed penalties to beat wigan and for a team consisting of players that have won all those trophies (that you listed above), and for a team that is made up of seasoned experienced international like ours is, to see them play like that for 120 minutes and still react like it was the game of their lives is cringeworthy imo. Last season we were treated to an on pitch mardi gras after we clinched the virtual trophy in geordieland and now we celebrate beating wigan on pens as if it was the best team in the world that we had just scrapped by
We used to have standards but now beating wigan is an almighty feat :(
No...for this lot getting to a final is an almighty feat for this lot.

Don't underestimate the effect that has on foreign players and for young players as well. Gibbs,The Ox,Sanogo all relatively kids are on the cusp of picking up a medal . Arteta journeyman spanard whose highs are 2 player of the year awards from Everton, long gone are the halcyon days of being a Barca youth.

I just heard Stevie Mee was f**king crying after the game today even though there are still 4 games to go and the chavs will make life difficult, it was a spawny win thanks to Kompany but it's being hailed as something special. We could win our first trophy in 9 years and we are all f**king depressed because the media are telling us to be, because how the mighty have fallen.

Get a grip. We got her by relying on a 20 yr old kid to be man of the match whilst our average 2nd choice keeper has been having his best days in the cup. Rosicky who is past it with flashes of brilliance, Poldi a good striker on his day but rarely has his day anymore, Giroud who is shot,Arteta is on his last legs. Yes all this thanks to good home draws and support, that tam has gotten past the Scum, dippers,Everton and now Wigan...the cup holders that beat a Shitty team that was better on paper than what we put out yesterday.

I didn't celebrate, I was relieved but let them celebrate getting to the final of the FA cup, with a genuine shot at winning a trophy their manager couldn't give a toss about.

Good luck to them and if some kind soul will take pity on me and let me have a spare, I shall be there again nervous, frustrated, angry, jubilant and finally relieved. Except if it's the same result on May17th f**k relief, I shall get well and truly rat a**ed and sing the night away with hopefully other happy gooners. I won't care if the winning goal is an OG off Curtis Davies a**e.

Rant over. :barscarf:

I turned the TV straight off after Cazorla's penalty so didn't see these celebrations originally. When I saw the headlines etc I thought it was just journos being bitter that they didn't get the result they wanted so trying to stick the knife in anyway. It's an FA Cup semi ffs, of course there is going to be a massive pile-on (if that's your kind of thing) after winning on pens and the players should acknowledge the fans who have stood by them for years and endured two hours of that shit.

Laps of honour are a bit far for ANY semi-final victory imo, but selfies are just embarrassing.

I spoke to my son who was at the game on my tickets and he cooly says ,"Dad you always told me that with Arsenal if there is an easy way or a very hard way Arsenal will always go the hardest route !" .

Of course he was right,I love my son !

What words did I twist Augs? You implied that the players should feel ashamed and embarrassed to go through to the FA Cup final via a penalty shootout, and I called you out for the absurdity of your statement.

If I was part of that Arsenal team on Saturday the last thing I would feel is embarrassment after the win, regardless of the opposition or the manner of victory.

No, I implied that experienced international players should feel embarrassed at needing penalties to beat a championship team loaded with journeymen and I absolutely stand by that.

I actually believed and stated that we would win comfortably on saturday and it's not often that I am that confident  I know that we had been on a diabolical run lately and I know that our "bottle" is shockingly brittle but I also thought that playing a championship team for a place in the cup final would relax the players enough to make their class tell. Wenker can again cite injuries all he likes (as he did post match) but the reality is that with the exception of mcmanaman, they havent got one player in their team good enough to be in our ladies team and yet they made us look like a pub team  Fair play to wigan and I hope that they get promoted again cos as a club I like them, but to be as easy nullified as that is shocking. If wenker wonders why we the fans would rather the fa cup than 4th spot, then maybe he should ask himself if a team that needs penalties to beat a championship team has any place being in the champions league

Well, I just hope the punters on here calling for Sanogo to replace Giroud will take a long hard look at themselves and fuck off.

The difference when Giroud came on was huge. We suddenly looked a bit organised up front. And this is a Giroud that is burnt out from playing more or less every game. This is a Giroud that is an average player at best. But his touch is still a million miles better than Sanogo. Sanogo has a little bit of pace. But NOTHING else. His touch is Bendtneresque, he has no footballing brain, makes the wrong decisions constantly, doesn't know where or when to run 9 times out of 10, he panics in front of goal and his technique when striking the ball is just appalling for a pro footballer. Don is right; We paid nothing for him. We were robbed.

Santi Cazorla should now shut the fuck up and never talk about football and his demands ever again. He was absolutely fucking shite on Saturday. Shameful lazy insipid performance. Worst player on the pitch. He needs to take a look at himself.

We were shit, we were lucky, and fuck it I'm delighted to be in the FA Cup final. Any Gooner that is not happy to be in the FA Cup final isn't a true Gooner or a proper football fan. Not talking about how we got there or the embarrassing OTT celebrations by the players, just talking about us actually being there. When did it become unhip or uncool to be happy to reach a final? Seriously, fuck off.

To the Pod haters. You have no clue about football.  The man is a striker. He's not a winger. He's not a midfielder. He's not a covering wideman. He should be played as the first striker in a 4-4-2. Asking him to play as wide man covering a full back would be like asking Ian Wright to do the same thing. It's not their game.

Hilarious that when Wenger FINALLY tried a 4-4-2 he still got it wrong! He should have taken Sanogo off and played Pod off Giroud.

Finally, fair play to Flappy. He's shit but he has been good in the cup and I hope Wenger plays him in the final ahead of Calamity Chesney and his cocky fucking ego.

Yep. :D But Calamity Chesney for me is riskier. He turns up to big games with this fucking cocky head on him. Usually he's had a Tweet or two just to fire up the oppo in the days before the game, then he turns up match day and he's got that stupid fucking arrogant look and that cocky smile on his face, and then he just fucks the pooch. He is a better keeper than Flappy (hell, I'M a better keeper than Flappy! ) but in a one-off like a cup final mentally Calamity Chesney is more likely to make a huge howler I think. :|

Again a twist in what people (and I for one) are saying DB10 - nobody is saying that we are not happy to be in a cup final so you can stop with the "isnt a true Gooner" comments. This thread isnt about the cup final......this thread is about the wigan game ONLY and in the wigan game we were absolute fcuking garbage and those highly paid international footballers that were shameful throughout, then behaved afterwards as if they won the world cup  If the cup meant so much to them then where was that showing in the previous 120 minutes ? Playing bad I can accept (although not constantly as seems to be the case) but where was the passion, where was the drive and where was the guts ? We didnt play like a team that desperately wanted to be in the cup final so maybe the after match performance was contradictory to what we actually seen.

Again I will say to you, that when the cup final comes around there will be a thread on it where we will all wax lyrical about the prospect of winning a trophy again and it will excite us all. In the meantime we will analyse a match to which this thread is actually about

Podolski plays exclusively on the left wing for the Krauts too DB10. I like the guy but let's be honest here, he's not good enough. He can finish and that's about it.

And in that regard he is way better than giroud, wakemeup and the worlds greatest danish striker so if you play 4-4-2 then he should without doubt be one of the two up top

Hang on. You don't determine what people can or cannot comment about on threads. The very essence of this forum has always been that threads grow organically. So I will make any comment I feel like making on any thread I want to. Also a bit rich coming from you, when you shoe-horn your Wenger hatred into many threads not about Wenger. I don't believe anyone has asked you to stop that, have they?

TBH anyone that is not happy about reaching the final seems to me to be getting caught up in the whole "Hey look how much more negative I am than you" thing. And I really don't give a fuck if anyone doesn't like that comment. It is possible to still want to win things and want Wenger gone, just as it is possible to be unhappy about many aspects of the club and players and yet be happy about a result, these things are not mutually exclusive.

Erm... but he didn't at Cologne. He was played in the centre and delivered goals. He even says himself that central striker is his role, not out wide;

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/footba ... senal.html

Just because the German team use him out there alot doesn't mean he's best put out there. Just look at the way Wenger plays players out of position.

As for your he can finish comment, surely if he is playing as a first striker off another forward then that's all he needs to really be good at?
