I think some are being too harsh on Welbeck. I have not been able to see him live but on the live games I have watched on tv he seems to be a bit unlucky in front of goals with his attempts either being saved, or defender gets the block in, but I can recall a few occasions where his blocked attempts have fallen for another player to score from. Admittedly, his scoring rate is not where it should but you can't compare him to Wrighty as he (Wright) played in the same position throughout the season. When did Graham ever ask Wrighty to play on the wing? Welbeck plays across the front 3 during a match. Play him in the same position for a whole season and he will score but under wenger that will never happen.

The flip side of that of course, is that if he was/is as prolific and lethal as wrighty was, then no manager would play him on the wing

Other great 'wingers' under Wenger include Eboue, Cesc, Gilberto and Bendtner...

I'm still very positive about the boy. Yep he's no world beater but I still think that a continuing run in the team can only benefit him and us.
Great attitude and work ethic and overall I'm happy

Yes, compared to some of out other non contributing and lazy players, he's doing a relatively good job.

he's good enough as a squad player but should never be starting every game like he does now. at least not for a team that (should) have title aspirations.

Unfortunately, the same can be said for Flamini, Arteta, Monreal, Mertasacker, + Sczeczney at least.

I concur, our squad contains a large pecentage of overpaid average shite.
