Stories today saying William will be getting paid 35 million over 3 years.

Ffs does Chelsea offer the 'Arsenal Retirement Package' as an incentive for new signings

It really is impossible to defend offering a 32 year old player a contract of that magnitude - it is the first deal when I have really questioned how much power kia has in our transfer policy, and how much edu and raul are in his pocket. For them this is the advantage of having a clueless yank as their boss - for all he knows agents pushing their players into clubs on inflated wages is the way it is done over here (it is at AFC     )
Add in Kia also being Edu's agent and the whole thing is all kinds of fucked up

Arsenal have signed Brazil midfielder Willian on a three-year deal after the 32-year-old's contract with Chelsea expired.

Do Arsenal never learn. £220k a week for a player in 2 years that will be bench warming. I would much rather have got coutinho on a loan deal. Proven in that position. I really hope Smith Rowe steps up and makes this position his own.

We don't know he's getting that kind of money. Daily Mail reporting that's the figures doesn't mean it's true.

Now I know that's a bit rich coming from the guy who posts the most unbelievable shitiest transfer rumours imaginable, but I don't even believe the shit I post :D

Alot of the stuff I put up is to wind Augie up :D

Edu says Willian is part of a big process that will involve further sales and signings. Not the first time this summer Arsenal have told supporters to expect recruitment, something of a rarity for them.

I remember a team called Locomotive Leipzig In the 70s..Arsenal played them in the UEFA Cup and win 7-1 on aggregate..Locomotive Leipzig's goal was an og by Frank Stapleton.
Just checked and it’s not the same team. Locomotive are still playing in the lower leagues.

RB Leipzig were formed in 2009 after Red Bull bought the rights to a 5th division team called “FC sold their soul” .... it’s a beautiful rags to riches story, honest

Wasting your time mc - I've said all along that my happiness or dissatisfaction on this transfer window will be based on who we get rid of, and it looks like I am going to be very pissed off on that score. Signing willian on that money is hard to justify for any club, but for a club like ours that hasnt a pot to pish in, it makes it totally unbelievable, and I said that when it was only 120k per week

Augie the same paper quoting the figure of 220000 today, in this case the Daily Mail, told the whole world last week he was joining us on a 100000 a week, they arrived at the higher figure by including his signing on fee and whatever bonuses that have been agreed along with his weekly wages, I could be wrong but I've never heard of bonuses or signing on fee for any other club being included as weekly wage.

Papers use the figure of £220k a week to give the average fan of what his weekly equivalent is. If they just say £100k a week plus addons it means nothing or even £35m over a 3-year term. The weekly figure allows comparison with other players in the squad. Before Auba pens his new deal (please do it) only Ozil is on more.

Its pretty easy his wages were 100 k the rest is his signing on fee which you can bet will add up to over 200 k per week, more like 250 ,its another shite deal .
The fact Chelsea baulked at his demands speaks volumes but lets not think there is some backhanders flying around because of his agents relationship with RAul ,we all know that could never happen ......................dont we ?
Same old Arsenal ,same results !

His pace is failing and that's his principal asset, think what it will be in 2 years time ,thats if he doesn't get a long term injury ,every time we get a Chelsea reject we get mugged off ,I see no reason to think this wont be true of Willian !

As I recall the club did the very same when sol was signed from the swamp - instead of paying him a lump sum signing on fee, it was divided up over the course of his contract therefore his weekly/monthly wage went through the roof. The big difference between then and now is that back then we were in a much better financial situation, and nowadays our wage budget is constantly being stretched to it's limit so willian's signing on fee will hinder our ability to offer proper wages to upemanco/gabriel/partey or whoever we go after

What a shower of negative bastards you all are :?
Welcome, Willian! An improvement on any of the midfielders we currently have at the club!

Sadly he would be an improvement on most of our defenders also.

Dont get me wrong Sid i think Willian is a very good player but ffs his inherent abilities are 120% negated by playing alongside Xhaka if he plays through the middle, if he's out wide it means one of the others makes way for him and then we get into the Augie paranoia realm of favouring older players over youngsters ( ).

If we had a proper DCM then Willian would be a good deal even if you only got 1 or 2 seasons out of him before he is completely shagged but alongside Xhaka....... :banghead:

Thinking about it i'd consider playing Chambers in the CDM role if we're not buying one and he stays just to see the back of the Fannybulge :rubchin:
