Chants Would Be A Fine Thing

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

New song redaction are trying to get started, to make our new anthem.

It's time for something REALLY original that has never been used in this country before. Something stirring that we can say we launched before anyone else!

The Torres song by Liverpool that we now use for Eduardo is from a song called "When Johnny Comes Marching Home". But Arsenal fans used it back in 2004 for Sol Campbell.

The "We Won It Five Times" song they used is from a song called "Sloop John B". We used that song on the infamous Arsenal songsheet back in early 2004. It didn't take off though and Liverpool used the tune instead.

It's time we got a good tune and ran with it until it takes off! And thanks to the fans from River Plate, we've found something that's never been used in the UK before. Check out the clip below:

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=gX-HP7V4a ... front.html

Here are the Arsenal lyrics:

"The pride of north London. Forever and ever.
The red and white army. Marching together.
We'll fight for the cannon. Proud of our history.
Always remember our home is Highbury!
Arsenal Arsenal! Arsenal Arsenal!
Arsenal Arsenal! Arsenal Arsenal!"

We've all seen what the REDsection and other parts of the new ground are capable of. Let's really get behind this chant and make it our own. Thief-proof and properly Arsenal so that nobody can take it away from us.

To help the launch, we'll be playing it on the big screen in The Rocket throughout December and January. Flyers with the lyrics will be distributed and we'll get some feedback from you guys on it too. Let's just go for it this time!

Wondered what had happened to this. When I emailed redaction a few songs from this thread a while back they sent this song & asked me to try & come up with some lyrics to it. Obviously they weren’t a fan of my version  but good to see them making a effort to get something new kick-started.

Just to help people put the words to the tune, “The pride of North London…â€

Definitely sounds quality. Not sure if we'd be able to make it sound as intimidating though. It'd be awesome if we could though!

help from Mr Ram

4 years have passed since we last won a trophy
But we should have known this right from the start
Youth can be real nice but
Youth can break your heart
We’ll send an SOS to the Boss
Well send an SOS to the Board
I hope someone gets our Message from the Forum
Sending an SOS
Sending an SOS
Sending an SOS
Rescue me before we fall into despair, oh
I hope some gets our Message from the Forum
Sending out at an s.o.s.
Sending out at an s.o.s.
Sending out at an s.o.s.

Logged on this morning, can't believe what I saw
Hundred billion Gooners, crying for a cure..."
Seems we not alone at being alone
Hundred billion castaways, looking for some transfers
We’ll send an SOS to the Boss
Well send an SOS to the Board
I hope someone gets our Message from the Forum
Sending an SOS
Sending an SOS
Sending an SOS
Rescue me before we fall into despair, oh
I hope some gets our Message from the Forum
Sending out at an s.o.s.
Sending out at an s.o.s.
Sending out at an s.o.s.

Sorry to go off subject here, but could not find any other thread to shear my experience.

Won hospitality tickets to the pompy game. But would much rather have spent the money and sat at the back of the upper tier. No bastard sing's, shouts or moans. they bearly even cheer, just politly clap. One bloke even said.
" oh look, it sol campbell. Must be strange for him coming back to the emirates"

I plucked up the courage to shout at the ref once and the looks i got

Worst time at the Grove EVER!!!!!!!!!

Sorry just need to share my experience.

I work all night, I work all day, to make us like les invicbles
Ain't it sad
there never seems to be a single penny left for me to buy some stars
That's too bad
In my dreams I have a plan
If I got me a wealthy chairman
I wouldn't have to play the kids cest pais experience

Money, money, money
Must be funny
In the rich man's world
Money, money, money
Always sunny
In the rich man's world
Aha-ahaaa
All the henrys I could buy
If I had a lot of money
It's a rich man's world

A man like that is hard to find but I can't get him off my mind
Ain't it sad
all I get is PHW to not rush out
That's too bad
he now say we cant spend fortunes on people who won’t help us
Thus we can never win the PL
But I feel a boycott coming soon and le guilertine

Money, money, money
Must be funny
In the rich man's world
Money, money, money
Always sunny
In the rich man's world
Aha-ahaaa
but we only 1 or 2% from les chumpione
If I had a lot of money
It's a rich man's world

Understand you totally mate.

First post for me. Hello everyone & can I just say I f*cking love this club with a pride so scary, it scares me sometimes.

Anyway, I really miss the terraces, proper atmospheres, wild celbrations after goals, the tension between sets of fans. We'll never have those days again. It's over.

Today's reality is f*cking hard to take despite our lovely state of the art stadium.

Unless there is a way of congregating the fans who want to sing in the same area, we're fucked & I don't see how that's possible.
Our 'fans' who go to the Emirates are a pathetic embassment. Majority corporate or middle class families who turn up late, leave early & don't celebrate goals much more than a gentelman's clap & sing bugger all. A million miles from the local working class fan of the 70's/80's & further back.

At the Hull Villa match last week, there was less than 25,000 fans generating 10 times as much atmopshere as 60,000 do at the Emirates & I could hear watching on the Telly. Our only ever song is 'And its Arrse-nal, Arrrrrse-nalll FC...." & that only sounds loud-ish in the big games or when we've just scored.

The away support is better but still over-rated. Against the Chavs, Y*** etc its ok but we barely sing when we go behind & quite a few away games you hear jack all..

Who here remembers the 87 Littlewoods semi final replay victory against the ****? The atmosphere that night was insane. That's what I miss. Perhaps going into the widerness for a few years (such as we were before GG ) will get rid of some of the c*nts who go to our games now & bring back more of the real working class fans. I wanna see us win trophies but what's the point of supporting something so souless. Going to Emirates is like going to a fucking baseball game.

Gooner till I die. She wore a yellow ribon
